Winter Co-Curricular 2017

Information has been provided to students for them to confirm their nomination for term 2 and 3winter co-curricular sport. Teams will be created based on these nominations and students are reminded that once they have confirmed their nomination they are expected to attend all training sessions and to be available for all 12 rounds of Saturday morning competition.

2017 Basketball

I have met with most of the boys in years 8-12 who wish to play basketball this year and allocated a player guernsey number to new players.  It is important that new players now go to the uniform shop to be fitted for a uniform as it can take up to 6 weeks for uniforms to be made and delivered.

If your son wishes to play basketball this year and has not been allocated a number, he needs to seek assistance from the uniform shop asap.

Umpires and Coaches 2017

I am yet to fill all of the coaching positions required for the upcoming winter co-curricular season and would like to hear from potential soccer and football coaches. Additionally, Rostrevor is always in need of good basketball, AFL and soccer umpires, all of whom are paid for their time and expertise.  If you feel you are in a position to assist, please email me your contact details.

In other Co-curricular News:

Samuel Snowball (year 10) and Thomas Snowball (year 8) enjoyed the chance to play cricket together on the weekend for their local team, Wisanger, who won their match and move through to the Grand Final. Both retired not out after hitting the maximum allowable runs and then returned figures of 0/4 and 1/5 off their respective bowling spells.

If your son, be he a current or past scholar, has made any significant achievement in an activity outside of the College, please pass this on to me via email to jfischer@rostrevor.sa.edu.au or by phone, so that I can include his achievements in the weekly newsletter.

Junior Years Swimming Carnival

It was with great excitement and enthusiasm that the house chants echoed off the walls of the JV Bourke pool to signify the beginning of our annual swimming carnival.

After many PE lessons spent in the pool practising strokes and a variety of novelty events, it was now time to put it all into action and into action they all went. The boys participated in every event, whether it was an individual race or a team event, with enthusiasm and with a determined effort to do their very best for their house. Even the parents got involved with the amazing "dance off" to earn extra points for their house.

After a number of individual and team events, our scorers, who worked tirelessly throughout the morning calculating scores and allocating points, delivered the long awaited results.

O'Brien House were victors followed very closely by Gurr in second place and Egan  taking third place.

The house that displayed outstanding spirit on the day and the winner of the Spirit Shield was Murphy House.

There were a number of outstanding individual efforts as well, with Damon Tatarelli winning the under 9 age champion medal closely followed by Luca Fantasia and Owen Lloyd tying for second place and Christian Disciscio taking third place.

The under 10 age champion was Tom Fotheringham with a tie for second place between Alessio Fantasia and Massimo Cerracchio. Adam Hardwarewala gained third place.

The under 11 age champion was Tom Braunack with Ignatius Crafter coming second and Carlen Becker in third place.

The under 12 age champion was Jack Haddad with Alex Pertl taking second place and Jack Dundon third place.

I would like to congratulate all the boys on the fine efforts throughout the carnival and the Junior Years staff and parents whose help on the day was invaluable.
