Term 3, Week 8, Bulletin - Thurs 14 September 2017

Written on the 13 September 2017

Twilight Fair needs your help!

It's not a Community event without you and we are always in need of volunteers!

Apart from being the biggest Parents' and Friends' fundraiser of the year, it is also a great day of 'friend raising.'

Did you know that in recent years the Fair proceeds have supported the College in developments including: the Kiss & Drop Shelter, Bungalow Shade Sails, contribution to the refurbishment of the Equity Hub & Ideas Centre, equipment for the Music Department, the electronic sign located on the corner of the Junior Campus and most recently, the installation of the Pergola next to the Pavilion.  This year, the P&F have allocated funds raised as contribution to the new Junior Years Playground and the refurbishment of the College Pool.

Trailer Raffle - help us by donating now!

The P&F have secured a 6" x 4" trailer kindly donated by Lean Business Solutions.  Can you help fill it up?  Some great donation ideas are:

  • Cases of Beer, Wine or Soft Drinks;
  • Whitegoods;
  • Chocolates;
  • Swimming Equipment (i.e. surf boards);
  • Gardening Items;
  • Garden Pots;
  • Eskies;
  • Wheelbarrows;
  • Fishing Equipment;
  • Beauty Products;
  • Glassware;
  • Kitchen Crockery;
  • Bathroom Items;
  • Vouchers,

Above are just a few ideas!  We invite you to be creative and think big!

Collection of Donations will be in Week 10!

We will be collecting all donations for the Trailer Raffle over 1 week and we ask you bring your donations to the College during Week 10.  The trailer will be located in the Valley from 8:30am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 3:30pm each day Monday, 25 September to Friday, 29 September.

One more favour - can you help sell raffle tickets?

Early in Term 4, we shall be sending home a book of 20 tickets to every family and ask you to assist by selling as many raffle tickets as possible.  Additional books will be available!  Tickets will be only $2.  The raffle will be drawn at the Twilight Fair at approximately 7:30pm!

If you have any question relating to the trailer raffle, please email springfair@rostrevor.sa.edu.au.

VOLUNTEER Before, during or after the event!

For an event like the Fair to be successful, we need the help of many volunteers to assist with cooking, serving food, selling items, set up and clean up. We ask that every family volunteer their time to assist the Rostrevor College Community with this.

Ways you can help:

  • set up on the day of the Fair;
  • with the stalls on the day;
  • clean up after the events.

Please complete and return the VOLUNTEER FORM, also available on the website, or email springfair@rostrevor.sa.edu.au with your availability.

Designer Wine Labels

For a number of years now the Junior Years boys have designed a wine label which many families have bought as a keepsake for a special occasion. This year will be no different, the boys will again be designing a special label for you to purchase on a bottle of wine.  Pre-sales of the wine can be purchased via Qkr and we shall let you know when this will become available.  This year's wine is a 2014 Cabernet by Rymill Coonawarra Wines.  Wine labels will be on display at the Fair but don't wait to order - the last day to make a purchase will be Friday 3 November 2017 at the Fair!  Order yours early on Qkr .

Coffee & Cake Stall

Once again, the P&F will be running a Coffee & Cake Stall at this year's Twilight Fair.

We are seeking donations from our Rostrevor families of fresh home baked goods, e.g. cakes, slices, pies, pastries, cupcakes or biscuits.

It would be fantastic if all donated baked goods could be delivered & packaged, ready to sell, to the Junior or Senior Years Reception, on the morning of Friday 3rd November 2017. Alternatively, goods can be dropped off directly to the Cake Stall by 3pm.

Regulations require that all ingredients must be named, and date baked indicated.

On behalf of the Rostrevor College Parents & Friends Association, I would like to thank you for your kind donation and support. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries you may have.

Kind regards,
Karen Tripodi

Lucky Dip & Novelty Stall

Junior Years: Outside JY Reception Office

Middle/Senior Years: Student Services

The Lucky Dip and Kids Novelty Stall is always a favourite for the children at our Fair. Which child does not love a lucky dip or the chance to purchase a little toy at the Fair?

We are asking for your support in donating an item for the Lucky Dip & Novelty Stall. Please donate a suitable item of value from $2 to $10 for either boys or girls of all ages. e.g. pencils, cars, dolls, nail polish, lip gloss, craft items, lego, books.  K-mart usually has a great selection of cheap toys and craft. If you don't have time to shop, a monetary donation in an envelope will also be suitable.

A bin will be placed at the front of the Junior Campus Reception area for your donations, or they can be left at Student Services for Middle/Senior Years
