Indigenous Students

Rostrevor College acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the land upon which our College rests. We acknowledge and recognize the richness of the cultural heritage of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and respects their ongoing connection with the land.

Preamble

Rostrevor College has been selected as an education provider for students who are offered places in the Indigenous Youth Leadership program.

The Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (IYLP) offers scholarships and leadership opportunities to young Indigenous Australians, with a focus on Indigenous youth from communities in very remote areas of the country or regional communities to be able to extend their educational choices and opportunities.

IYLP is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency and The Smith Family was selected to be an IYLP Partnership Broker. The fund provides a bridge in the gap in costs between other funding such as Abstudy. In addition the fund may provide support to students for non-compulsory education expenses.

Rostrevor College supports Indigenous Enrolments in conjunction with our Reconciliation Action Plan.

Enrolment Process

Students are encouraged to apply approximately 12 months prior to commencement by lodging an application with The Smith family in accordance with their criteria and application form and noting the strict cutoff dates.

An Application to Rostrevor College must be made at the same time as the completed application to the Smith Family IYLP programme.

*Please note, an application to Rostrevor College does not guarantee offer of Enrolment.

Once the applications have been lodged with The Smith Family and The College, and all the supporting documents have been received, an assessment will be made about Scholarships available in each year level.

Shortlisted students will be interviewed at Rostrevor College with a representative of the Smith Family and Rostrevor College Principal Shana Bennett.

If the student is offered a place, a letter and Enrolment Contract will be sent to the family. The College will also advise Abstudy. This must be completed and returned to the College by the due date with $50 Enrolment Fee to accept the place together with their Abstudy Customer reference number (CRN) and approval.

What Costs will there be?
