Boarding Week

National Boarding Week gives us the opportunity to reflect on the great contribution that boarders make to Rostrevor College and to thank the Duggan House staff who do so much to provide a home away from home for our boarding students. It's also an opportune time to thank our dedicated boarding families for the wonderful support they give to their sons and to the Rostrevor Community.

In National Boarding Week, we thank House Mother Linda Hayes who has dedicated 12 years to supporting several hundred young Rostrevor men from around Australia.

Recycling Challenge

The challenge is on!! The Social Justice Group is excited to launch Rostrevor's 10-cent container initiative. The first phase involves an inter-House competition this Term aimed at changing behaviour regarding the correct recycling of 10c containers and plastics. To rally students around the cause, Yr 11 Lachlan Tripodi produced a video starring Rostrevor's environmental warriors. Enjoy the video here

Merit Ceremony Livestream - 2021 High Achievers

Several Year 12 students - who attained Merits for SACE subjects whilst in Year 11 - are being recognised alongside Rostrevor's highest achieving 2021 graduates this week. The traditional Merit Ceremony at Government House was delayed due to COVID restrictions in February and has moved to an online format. This week, 18 Rostrevor students have received a total of 29 Merits including current Year 12s Sebastian Rapuano (3 Merits), Jonathan Beltrame, Ridheypreet Grover, Darcy McKenny and Anton Piotto. Special congratulations go to 2021 Head Prefect Manish Augustine who will receive his Governor's Commendation tonight. The livestream of Manish and Rostrevor's multi-Merit-winning students can be viewed between 6pm and 8pm tonight via the: SACE Merit Ceremony Livestream

Supporting Boys in the Middle Years

Our Middle Years students watched a Brainstorm Productions play today which addressed topics such as bullying, cyber safety, harassment and resilience. They also had the chance to meet new College Counsellor Mason Somerville ('03). Mr Somerville is a qualified social worker and, as an Old Scholar, has a unique insight into the life of a young Rostrevor man. He was an enthusiastic member of the First XI, Cross Country and other sporting teams and was captain of the Vocal Rock Group in 2003. He joins fellow College Counsellor Leah Schultz who also spoke to Middle Years students today.

First XI makes it two from two

Congratulations to Year 11 Alessio Principe who kept a clean sheet in his debut game as First XI goalkeeper in Rostrevor's 1 - 0 win against St Michael's this week. Rostrevor's Second XI also delivered an exceptional performance against Blackfriars' First XI on Wednesday night winning the match 2 - 1.

Referee Course

Year 10 students in Rostrevor’s Specialist Soccer program are gaining an additional skillset with the introduction of a referee’s course supported by Football SA’s Tom Brinkworth (State League 1 & NPL Assistant ref). Not only are the boys getting a better insight into the rules of the game and respect for those who conduct it, but also have the opportunity to become qualified, and paid, referees.

Pedal Prix - The Bend Racecourse

Well done to Rostrevor's two Pedal Prix teams that took to The Bend Motorsport Park on Saturday for an exciting six-hour race featuring 150 entrants. Rostrevor's Middle Years team secured 13th place in its division, while the Senior Years team overcame several mechanical challenges to finish 30th. There were many great individual performances and brilliant teamwork. Thanks go to Pedal Prix team coach and manager Mr Hunt who was supported by 2021 graduate Joshua Smith.

Chess and Debating

Our Chess and Debating teams have been sharpening their skills this week as part of Rostrevor's broad Co-Curricular program. Rostrevor is extremely fortunate to have former national chess coach David Koetsier guiding our young players and we wish them well tonight. Meanwhile, it was a clean sweep for Rostrevor's Senior, Middle and Junior debating teams this week.

JY Students celebrate First Reconciliation

Earlier this month, 13 Rostrevor students celebrated their First Reconciliation at St Joseph's Church, Tranmere. This is a special time for the boys and their families as they take the first step in completing the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church. Last week, the boys were presented with their First Reconciliation badges at a Junior Years gathering on the Bungalow Oval.

Rostrevor First XVIII - Live Coverage

Rostrevor families will have the opportunity to watch all the action from tomorrow’s First XVIII clash against SHC live at Rostrevor vs SHC First XVIII Livestream  thanks to the Sports Association of Adelaide Schools (SAAS).

Co-Curricular Uniforms

Thanks go to our families who have purchased new co-curricular items in recent weeks. Additional football stock is expected to arrive in June and Soccer stock in July. See the full range of Co-curricular Uniforms here

Footy's Back

It was an exciting weekend for many of our Junior Years players who pulled on their new guernseys for the first time. Well done to Rostrevor's Year 6 and Year 5 Football teams which kicked their seasons off to a good start with round-one wins and plenty of smiles and camaraderie on their home ground. See all Co-Curricular Week 2 Results here and see this weekend's match times and locations here.

Sibling Enrolments for 2024

As many year levels have reached capacity, or are nearing capacity for 2023, existing Rostrevor families are encouraged to submit sibling-enrolment paperwork to Enrolments Officer Annemarie Mein as soon as possible for 2024. Rostrevor looks forward to meeting many prospective families at its next Principal's Tour on Tuesday, May 24.

OSHC - Up and Running!

It has been a great start for Rostrevor's new OSHC service with 35 families taking advantage of the engaging and enjoyable program led by Director Steve Calio. Parents are reminded that OSHC also offers a before-school session from 7am to 8:30am and that students are not permitted on campus until a supervising teacher is present from 8:15am. See the College OSHC webpage here
