Principal's News - 10 March 2023

As we reach the halfway mark of the term, both learners and staff are ready for Adelaide Cup long weekend and a chance for a few days break. The first six weeks of our Centenary year has seen the Opening Ceremony in the Valley, Prefects Investiture, Year 7 Activities Days, Year 5 & 8 Camps, Dux Assembly, Parent Information Nights, Swimming Carnival, Centenary Liturgy, Year 10 Stepping Up & Reflection Days, Centenary Sons and Grandsons Breakfast – and all this on top of our rich learning, wellbeing and co-curricular programs!

2023 Mid-Year Reception Intake

We are very excited to announce that we are now enrolling students for an additional 2023 Reception class, comprising solely of students starting Mid-Year. Mid-Year intake is available to students who turn five on or before 31 October in 2023.

Mid-Year Reception students who join us in 2023 will receive free tuition for Terms 3 & 4. This includes tuition fees and compulsory charges. Places are already starting to fill so you are encouraged to contact College Enrolments Officer, Annemarie Mein, for further enrolment information.

Sons & Grandsons of Rostrevor College Breakfast

Fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers of current students were invited to breakfast this morning on Rostrevor's front lawns. There were many reunions had, anecdotes told, and croissants eaten amongst the attendees. The morning was a wonderful celebration of the families who have been involved with the College for generations.

Year 10 Stepping Up Day

The Year 10s welcomed their fathers or male mentors to the College yesterday and today for the Stepping Up program. The boys and their fathers/male mentors spent the day engaged in physical team-building and problem-solving activities and constructed and raced a water raft before finishing with a reflection session. The program addresses multiple aspects of this stage of the boys’ lives, recognising;

  • the importance and need for a male role model in our boys’ lives,
  • the beginning of senior years education and its expectations,
  • the need to have certain conversations we may otherwise not have – by simply sharing stories.

We would like to acknowledge and thank all the fathers and male mentors for their time and their contribution to what was a wonderful experience for our boys.

Year 10 Reflection Day

Our Year 10 students spent their reflection day at Grange Beach, focusing on the theme 'Who do I want to be?'. They did a value audit, participated in deep group discussions around what is important to them, experienced guided meditation with Br John and shared in story. The day finished with affirmations - affirming the positive qualities they see in each other.

International Women's Day

The theme of International Women's Day for 2023 was #EmbraceEquity. Students wore a purple ribbon to symbolize their support for the message, and took time to think about and be grateful for the many amazing women in their own lives.
