Welcome to the 2022 School Year

Welcome to the first official Rostrevor College blog for 2022. While you have received numerous communications from me to date, they have all been around the various COVID-19 restrictions and management plans that have been put in place to keep all at Rostrevor College safe.  However, there is much more happening this year and not all of it relates to COVID-19!

I am utterly delighted to be joining the Rostrevor community and look forward to a time soon when I can start to meet and mingle with the many people that make up our community.  I come to Rostrevor with 27 years’ experience working within Catholic Education and have been privileged to teach and lead in both primary and secondary settings within diocesan and non-diocesan schools and colleges. What's New in 2022

As a College community, we have plenty to look forward to this year including:

  • The appointment of Assistant Principal - Junior Years Mrs Siobhan Paley and several exciting new teaching appointments to strengthen our Junior Years. (See Siobhan's introduction and JY news below)
  • The introduction of a dedicated Soccer Program supported by the Director of Soccer, Mr Terry Frangakis, and new academic staff member and Soccer Coordinator Mr Daniel Mullen. The initiative complements the strengthened Football Program overseen by three-time Magarey Medallist Mr James Allan.
    • The advancement of Rostrevor's Music Program with the appointment of Mr Camilo Rojas and Mr Callum Unger as Music Support officers. Camilo teaches both piano and guitar and is highly qualified with a Master of Music and a Master of Educational Leadership and Management. Callum is a Peripatetic Bass teacher for both double and electric. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Jazz and Honours in Music Composition.
    • Increased support for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the appointment of experienced Alice Springs youth worker Mr Nigel Lockyer who will be working alongside Mr Daniel Torode. Nigel comes to us from EREA's Flexible Learning Centre in Alice Springs and is a talented footballer - a passion he uses to engage young people and develop skills.

    New Face on the Farm

Newly-appointed Agricultural Science teacher Mr Sam Powell had a chance to meet some of the locals today! The highly-experienced educator joins Rostrevor from Xavier College and will teach Stage 1 & 2 Agricultural Systems, MY & SY Agricultural Science, Mathematics as well as Health & PE. He will undoubtedly get plenty of visits from the Junior Years as well!!

Assistant Principal - Junior Years, Mrs Siobhan Paley

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as Acting Assistant Principal – Junior Years of Rostrevor College for 2022. I am honoured to have the opportunity to work alongside the staff, students and families to provide quality and engaging learning experiences in the Junior Years.

I am an experienced, motivated, and dedicated professional with 17 years of primary teaching and leadership experience exclusively within Catholic Education South Australia. Summer Success for Rostrevor Students

Rostrevor College is always keen to share news on the achievements of its students and congratulates Parletta brothers Stefen (Yr 8) and Lucas (Yr 10) who continue to make names for themselves on the national trap shooting circuit. The boys competed alongside Olympic athletes in their first ISSF Trap Commonwealth & National Championships, achieving several 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in their respective grades. We wish them well in the 2022 Shooting Australia Performance Series and this weekend's State Carnival.
