Rostrevor Ski Trip
In the last week of the mid-semester break, 26 Rostrevor students from year 10, 11 and 12, escorted by Mr Hunt, Mr Phillips and Mr Vickery, endured the overnight dash to Mt Hotham for the annual College ski trip. Excellent snow coverage gave all students from beginner to expert the opportunity to build their skills and by the end of the week, everyone had conquered a black run, some with more control than others. It was a great week away and the 10s and 11s are already talking about Hotham 2019.

Rostrevor Sri Lanka Cricket Tour
The Sri Lanka Cricket Tour took place over 2 weeks at the end of June. This was the second time in recent years that Rostrevor has toured the sub-continent after a successful 2014 tour.
17 players, 3 staff and 5 parents embarked on the tour with high expectations and these were met in every facet. All of the 12 games were played in 32-degree heat with over 90% humidity it physically draining and mentally challenging. We managed to win 7 of the 12 games with 3 of our 5 losses coming in the last over.
Our tour began in the wonderful, mountainous, tea-growing region of Kandy and then made its way to Colombo before finishing down in the coastal region around Galle. It was 13 days of tough cricket, brilliant sightseeing and enjoying each other's company.
A significant part of the tour for us was a social justice component whereby much of our fundraising went to purchasing new cricket gear to donate to 3 cricket schools who don't have access to the facilities and equipment that we are lucky to access here in Australia. On top of this, the boys donated pre-owned gear which was received by the locals with much gratitude.
Our sightseeing took us to the tea plantations of Kandy, to an elephant orphanage in Pinawalla, the Dutch forte at Galle, A Herb and Spice Garden as well as visiting places which were devastated by the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.
A huge thank you must go to everyone who supported the tour, especially our fund-raising initiatives held in the months prior. Without this support, this tour would not have gone ahead.
We look forward to our next Sri Lanka Cricket Tour, which will be planned for 2021.
