Winter Co-Curricular
The fixtures for the winter co-curricular season have been uploaded to the Rostrevor website at https://www.rostrevor.sa.edu.au/fixtures.html.
Schools do not always play on their actual grounds; therefore, it is important to check where the match is being played. Maps are usually available by Wednesday of the upcoming weekend at the latest but I am reliant upon the opposing school to forward this information.

After seeing how Immanuel had stretched Prince Alfred the week before we were expecting a tough contest against Immanuel in our round 3 contest at home. To add further questions to the outcome, the selection table was thrown out again with some injuries, especially to a couple of NT boys returning from State U18 duties. This led to the inclusion of Year 10s Ned Carey and Zak Lovegrove who made their debut alongside Year 11 Beau Palmer, and Lachie Ball played his first game of the season. The team got off to a brilliant start through a strong centre clearance that allowed Thomas Matsis to kick a goal inside the first minute and although Immanuel were very lively early, the team, in a lot of ways had their most resilient performance so far. At half time the score was 8 goals to 3 and Rostrevor's forward line, led by Thomas Tacono, Anzac Lochowiak and Matsis looked dangerous every time the ball went forward.

Throughout the first half we set up a lot of chances with an aggressive style of football but did let ourselves down in front of goal and a bit around the ground with poor finishes. In the end the 80-point margin flattered Rostrevor but the 7 goals to 2 final quarter really blew out the margin. Stefan Lanzoni and Xavier Tranfa gave us a lot of drive in the midfield and in defence Isaac Seden-Kurnoth rebounded all afternoon with some of his desperate efforts were a feature. The backline is gelling well and despite the inexperience of a number of lads as defenders, they have stuck to their task of negating their opponent and providing run as required. As mentioned though our attack on the ball and the pressure we put on the opposition was outstanding. We will take that effort every week.

We now come up against Prince Alfred ourselves this week and as they have been the measuring stick for a while now, we realise we must get a few of the things that let us down against Immanuel, tidied up for this challenge. The whole group is very much looking forward to testing ourselves against them and seeing where we are regarding the competition standings.

1st XI Soccer Match Report

Rostrevor 2 def. Pembroke 1

Goal Scorers: Jake Tatarelli, Tyson Linsenmeier
Best: Tyson Linsenmeier, Noah Blazeka, Chris Mercorella

The red and black soccer team continued their winning ways with a 2-1 win over Pembroke. Our defensive third is developing into a solid force, with goalkeeper Jamie Signorello and centre backs Noah McNamara and Noah Blazeka working together to organise a formidable defence. Chris Mercorella took control of the midfield centre, allowing Adam Leombruno and Lachlan Barr some creative attacking freedom in our attacking third and teeing up wingers Vincent Pennino and Tyson Linsenmeier. Paul Leombruno's work rate up and down the right also gave the team constant energy and attacking prowess. Jake Tatarelli entered the frame as a substitute and sparked some life and reward for our attacking play, with a close range finish to put us 1-0 ahead at the break. We continued our attacking dominance into the second half, but it seemed the ball would not go in. Alessio Rapetti was unlucky in hitting the woodwork twice, hitting the cross bar and post, and Adam Leombruno scoring a 'goal of the year contender' volley from outside the box that entered the top corner, only to be called offside. A costly error at the back however saw Pembroke walk the ball into our goal to draw the game square with 20 minutes to play. Showing true Rostrevor spirit, the boys stuck to our game plan and battled to get the deserved result. Our attacking onslaught payed off with newly appointed captain Tyson Linsenmeier converting a crucial one-on-one opportunity to end the game as 2-1 victors. The lads continue to demonstrate true Rostrevor spirit, showing a "never say die" attitude, which will carry them great success as the season battles along. The First XI Soccer team look to continue their winning ways next Wednesday night against Pulteney.
