Welcome back to the new term and the final nine weeks of Semester 1. With the Winter Co-curricular Program kicking off this weekend we head straight into a vibrant mix of learning and co-curricular events. We wish our Music students and staff all the very best as they head to Mt Gambier this weekend for Generations in Jazz – this annual event is always a highlight of the music calendar!

My thanks to all parents across the College for taking time to connect with teaching staff during this week’s Parent Teacher Interviews. While we recognise that phone interviews are very convenient for many families, we also enjoy the face-to-face opportunity that our in-person interviews create.

ANZAC Day

On Saturday a group of Rostrevor Prefects attended the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Kensington Gardens to honour the bravery, sacrifice and spirit of all those people, past and present, including Rostrevor Old Collegians, who serve in the armed forces.

A special thank you to Blooms Flowers at Norwood, owned by the Manuelli family, for supplying the beautiful wreath that the prefects laid at the service.

New Rice Building Facilities

We are excited to share that the new Health Centre and student toilet facilities have been finished over the holiday break, ready for the beginning of Term 2. The Health Centre is staffed by our College Nurses, who work to ensure the best possible standard of healthcare is provided to students while at school.

Construction of the new facilities has been made possible through a very generous contribution from the Rostrevor College Foundation, and was executed by Chappell Builders and Edge Architects. We thank all those who made this build possible!

Located adjacent to the Canteen in the Rice Building, these modern facilities have been designed to support the wellbeing of our students and will serve the broader College community for years to come.

Boarding Families Welcome Dinner

On Monday afternoon we welcomed Boarders and their families back to the College ahead of the first day of Term 2. The families were all invited to attend a ‘welcome back’ dinner hosted in the Pavilion where they had the opportunity to catch up and connect with each other.

Loreto College Pink & Green Day

The Rostrevor Prefects travelled to Loreto to help promote their Pink & Green Day on Tuesday. Pink & Green Day honours the life of much-missed Ava Lynch and raises awareness for Run DIPG, two years on from Ava's passing. They played a friendly game of Netball where their Student Executive gave our Prefects a lesson in how to play the game, winning convincingly. It was great for the boys to get in the spirit of the day dressing up in pink and green colours. Rostrevor will host a rematch against their counterparts from Loreto in Blue Week. A few Netball trainings may be required for the rematch.

Year 2 Lenswood Apples Excursion

As part of their Farm to Table learning in Design Technologies, the Year 2 class visited Lenswood Apple Farm today to see how food moves through each stage of the production process. This excursion allowed students to observe the real-life systems, tools and technologies involved in getting apples from the orchard to their tables. Thank you to Old Collegian Chris Shipway (’03) for facilitating this fantastic experience. The boys were also able to enjoy some freshly picked apples and apple juice to round out their apple farm experience!

Rostrevor and Loreto Jazz Night

In preparation for this weekend’s Generations in Jazz, Rostrevor and Loreto College music students put together a performance that showcased the ensembles which will be participating in this year’s festival. It was a great opportunity for family and friends who aren’t able to attend the festival to enjoy the fruits of their hard work.

  • First XVIII Football | Harvey Pearce (C), Charlie Best (VC), Hugo Jaeschke (DVC) & Harry Krieg (DVC)
  • First XI Soccer | Jordan Schirripa (C)

First XI Soccer v St Peter’s College

Rostrevor’s First XI squad started the 2026 season well with a convincing 5-1 win over St Peter’s College on Wednesday. Early in the game, good work from Alex Ascensio put Marcus Caporaso in the right place to score into the far corner with assurance. Alex and Marcus combined again shortly after to score with confidence. Marcus then made it a first half hat-trick after good pressure from Rostrevor allowed him to round the GK and slot home for Rostrevor's third.

St Peter’s came out strong in the second half with a quick score. After a slow start to the second period, Josh Tassotti impressed with an assist, allowing Matias Sauchelli to produce a neat finish for Rostrevor's fourth. Paolo Matto added a fifth goal late in the game as good work from Elijah Weeks down the right-hand side cut the ball back for Paolo to tap it home.

Cycling Championships

The annual South Australian Schools Cycling competition was held on Wednesday this week at Victoria Park Racecourse. Rostrevor had four experienced cyclists competing this year; Liam Underwood, Ryan Underwood, Aiden Launer and Harry Whalan. All students performed well, with a special congratulations to Liam who finished on the podium in A Grade, coming away with a bronze medal. Also in A Grade, Ryan finished narrowly behind his brother in fifth place, and Aiden came in at a respectable eighth place. In his first year competing for Rostrevor, Harry finished in seventh place in C Grade.

AFL Season Launch

Rostrevor’s First XVIII Football team and their families came along to a season launch event in the Pavilion last night, where they heard from Old Collegian and past Norwood FC Captain Matthew Panos (’08) and new Coach Justin Maschotta. The evening was also an opportunity to announce and congratulate the leadership group for the 2026 season. Our community wishes the team the best of luck in their Round 1 home game against Westminster School tomorrow. The game will be livestreamed from 2pm HERE

CommBank Emerging Socceroos Championship

Congratulations to Year 10 student Joshua Tassotti who put on an incredible performance at the CommBank Emerging Socceroos Championship over the school holidays, coming away with a joint ‘Golden Boot’ award for the Under 15 division, scoring seven goals for the South Australian team!

Little League Baseball Nationals

Congratulations to Year 7 student Cooper Kenny who was part of the Adelaide Marlins team which, after a win in the holidays, has qualified to compete in the Little League National Championships at Sydney in June! If Cooper’s team win the National Championships, they will travel to the United States to participate in the Little League World Series. Good luck, Cooper!
