At Rostrevor we combine the teachings of Edmund Rice Education with the foundations of Catholic Education to guide our College's Mission and Identity.Â
Edmund Rice Education Australia offers a Liberating Education, based on a Gospel Spirituality, within an Inclusive Community committed to Justice and Solidarity. We draw upon the key principles of the Edmund Rice tradition to instil values in our students which guide them to make a positive difference to the lives of others. We help boys to make sense of their place in the world, encouraging them to give expression to their beliefs, embrace service and put their faith in action.  Â
Our Catholic Identity is underpinned by the mission of the Church, integrated through engagement with contemporary Catholic practices and religious curriculum. We foster an environment where boys are given opportunities to develop their unique spirituality and deepen their relationship with God. Â
Our wonderfully diverse community is comprised of individuals from a range of diverse faith and spiritual backgrounds who each contribute to the vibrant spirit of our College while upholding our Catholic values and identity. Â
Our Touchstones
Liberating Education
We open hearts and minds, through quality teaching and learning experiences, so that through critical reflection and engagement each person is hope-filled and free to build a better world for all. Â
Liberating Education invites our participation in building a better world for all through:Â
- co-design of learning and teaching experiences that open hearts and minds;Â
- mutually liberating, relational practices;Â
- informed, critical thinking and reflection; and Â
- a movement beyond self-interest that seeks the freedom of others.Â
Gospel Spirituality
We invite all people into the story of Jesus and strive to make his message of compassion, justice and peace a living reality within our community. Â
Gospel Spirituality enables our participation in the building a better world for all through:Â
- life-giving relationships with God, self, others and the natural world;Â
- activity that places love, compassion, justice and peace at the centre of our communities;Â Â
- integration of silence, reflection, prayer and ritual with life experiences; andÂ
- dialogue with our own and other faith traditions.Â
Inclusive Community
Our community is accepting and welcoming, fostering right relationships and committed to the common good.Â
Inclusive Community invites our participation in the building of a better world for all through:Â Â
- respect for each person's story as unique and sacred;Â
- valuing diversity as enriching dialogue, engagement and an understanding of self. Â
- healing of wounds and failings that silence and exclude; and Â
- transformative relationships that invite, welcome, and engage.Â
Justice & Solidarity
We are committed to justice and peace for all, grounded in a spirituality of action and reflection that calls us to stand in solidarity with those who are marginalised and the earth itself. Â
Justice and Solidarity invites our participation in the building of a better world for all through:Â Â
- care for our Common Home;Â
- critique of the structural causes of injustice using Catholic social teaching;Â Â
- deep listening to and preferential love for those most in need; andÂ
- collaboration with charism partners in being agents of change.Â
Reconciliation Action Plan
Our College is proud to have developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, around the school and with the community. Â
We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing and multi-dimensional process, deeply rooted in the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to an authentic Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition that is founded on our Touchstones and we are committed to the need for ongoing knowledge, understanding and deep listening of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and perspectives by staff, students and families to be engaged in visible reconciliation actions, forgiveness, and respect. Â
We strive to build respectful relationships and actively listen to the voices and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the Kaurna People on whose land we work on. We are dedicated to working together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to foster an environment of truth-telling, healing, forgiveness, and mutual respect, recognizing that our shared journey will strengthen and enrich our collective future.Â
