We understand the need for boys to be active and that they thrive physically, socially and academically when they are engaged in sport. Many of our highest achieving scholars are also heavily involved with various aspects of our thriving Co-Curricular Program.

All boys, without exception, are involved in at least one winter and summer co-curricular activity designed to develop their strengths, build friendships and expose them to new challenges. Research demonstrates a link between fitness and academic performance and suggests exercise is good for perseverance, discipline and focus as well as overall mental and physical wellbeing.

Rostrevor College boasts an exceptional and highly successful Co-Curricular Program backed by some of the best College coaches in the State. Offerings include AFL (Football), Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Cross Country, Debating, Golf, Music, Pedal Prix, Soccer, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Touch Football, Volleyball and Water Polo.

Excellent Sporting Facilities

Rostrevor students have access to five ovals with turf cricket pitches in summer which translate to three AFL and three Soccer pitches in the winter season. Two gymnasiums with three basketball courts also support Basketball, Badminton and Table-Tennis competitions. The College pool is used for Physical Education for R-12 students, Outdoor Education and training for the Swimming and Water Polo teams. Rostrevor's six competition-grade tennis courts have been recently refurbished and the College boasts the southern hemisphere's only international-grade handball courts that are used competitively by the Rostrevor and Old Collegian teams.

Rostrevor’s Basketball program has grown exponentially in strength and numbers over the past few years. Students in Years 10-12 benefit from the option of an elective Stage I and Stage II Specialist Basketball subject which combines the teaching of Rostrevor College, the Australian Curriculum and the Adelaide 36ers Basketball club. The subject combines theory with practical lessons and ties in with the College’s senior Basketball teams’ training and development.

The program is designed to identify and develop the strengths of students with an interest in Basketball, while also developing the interpersonal skills needed to be successful in today’s world. The Adelaide 36ers partnership affords participating students specialist coaching including targeted information on strength & conditioning, nutrition, post-game recovery and sport psychology from one of South Australia’s most successful Basketball teams.
