Dux Assembly

Today we welcomed back Old Collegians from the Class of ’25 and their families for this year’s Dux Assembly, gathering as a school community to celebrate the exceptional academic achievements of last year’s graduates. The entire academic staff at Rostrevor are extremely proud of what the cohort was able to achieve, with every student having reached their personal best by the end of the year. The Class of ’25 certainly delivered some of the College’s best ever SACE results and we acknowledge all those, teachers, tutors, Head of House, Heads of Faculty and members of the Senior Leadership Team who supported every boy during 2025.

The Old Collegians present at today’s ceremony consisted of 23% of the Class of ’25 who achieved an ATAR of 90 or above, the 17 students who were awarded a Merit and the 73 students who achieved an A+ grade.  Current Year 12 students who achieved A+ grades in a Stage 2 subject last year were also presented with awards. Congratulations to 2025 Head Prefect and Dux Alecs Zorzi who was presented with a Student Citizenship Award by Mr John Phillips OAM at the assembly.

The assembly was also an opportunity for the Passing of the Colours – a Rostrevor tradition which sees outgoing Prefects present the College colours (the College flag) to two Reception students, who then present it back to the incoming Prefects of the next year. This morning, Reception students Luca Pellegrini and Harvey Marschall presented the flag to Head Prefect Finn McNamara, Deputy Head Prefect Archie Shaw and Head Boarding Prefect Charlie Best.

Tredecim Annis

A Latin term translated as ‘thirteen years’, Tredecim Annis students are recognised every year for their commitment to a Rostrevor education, having attended the College from Reception to Year 12.

This year, Christian Disciscio, Cirahj Hamra, Max Hawes, Alexander Iasiello (absent), Alessio Maiorano, Matteo Maiorano, Finn McNamara and Edward Pipe were presented with their Tredecim Annis badges at the Dux Assembly with their families in attendance. Congratulations to these boys and thank you to their families for their commitment to Rostrevor for the past 13 years.

Junior School Liturgy & Boarding Mass

The first Junior School Chapel service for the year was held on Tuesday this week. Led by Lisa Zujic’s Year 6 class, the liturgy focussed on the importance of prayer in our daily lives and making space to listen to the Word of God. Students prepared and delivered thoughtful prayers linked to the Gospel reading Matthew 18:19-20 ‘For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.’

The Boarding House also held their first Mass for this year this week on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. It was a reverent and reflective Mass which saw our Boarding community gathered to celebrate in the Eucharist together. We are very grateful to Father Mathew Newman who came to the College to celebrate Eucharist with us, and to also answer students’ questions about the Catholic tradition, deepening their own understanding of the Catholic Faith lived out in those around them.

Boarding House Dinner

Duggan House hosted its first formal dinner of the year on Wednesday, with boarders encouraged to dress up as Robert Irwin for a ‘Crikey’ themed chicken parmi night. Congratulations to Year 7 student Jackson Coppock who won the prize for best dressed on the night. Later in the evening, the boys also enjoyed competing in a ‘crocodile wrestling’ competition!
