Parent Welcome Drinks

Our College community is wonderfully tight‑knit, and we love coming together to share moments, celebrate with each other, and make our campus feel like home.

It was fantastic to see so many of you last night at the Parent Welcome Drinks on the Rostrevor House Front Lawns. With a live musician, canapes, drinks and a selection of Old Collegian-made wine, the evening was a great way for new and existing parents and caregivers to meet and catch up with one another in a laid-back environment. Thank you to the parents and caregivers who came along to celebrate the beginning of the 2026 school year!

Year 10 Faith Formation Day

In conjunction with Stepping Up Day, the Year 10 cohort participated in their Faith Formation Day last Friday. With a focus on our College’s Justice and Solidarity Touchstone, students explored how choosing ‘the good’ is an individual and social responsibility and reflected on those around them who lead us in this way. Beginning with a ‘seven words’ activity designed to give students an opportunity to reflect on qualities and aspirations, they then took part in an intimate liturgy in the College Chapel before taking time to think about the meaning of the day and connect with each other on a reflective walk through Morialta Conservation Park.

Stage 2 Outdoor Education Surfing Camp

The Stage 2 Outdoor Education class ventured to Robe last week for a three-day camp to advance their surfing skills and learn more about the local environment. Although the swell conditions were unfavourable, the boys maximised their opportunities, refining their pop-ups and testing their resilience while getting battered by the waves. The class relished the overall experience in what is a beautiful region of the state.

AgXtra Cropping Competition

Each year Rostrevor's Year 11 Agriculture students enter a cropping competition run by research company AgXtra, where teams from schools around the state choose a wheat variety, sowing rate, type of fertiliser and fertiliser rate, and AgXtra sow the crop at a site at Roseworthy. Once harvested, the crop is judged on gross margin.

Results form the 2025 competition are now in, and we congratulate the team consisting of Peter Gallina, Jayden Lau, Simon Vello, Jake Lomman and Orlando Luppino who came in first, and the team consisting of Charlie Best, Harry Krieg, Lewie Grainger, Aden Knowles, Noah Hill and Fred Hancock who came in second! This is the second year in a row a Rostrevor team has won this competition.

CESA Student Leadership Conference

Yesterday, several of our College Prefects participated in the Catholic Education South Australia Student Leadership Program at Sunnybrae Estate. The day provided an excellent opportunity for them to network with student leaders from other Catholic schools across Adelaide, while also gaining deeper insight into their own leadership styles. Through workshops and collaboration, they explored how they can continue to grow as effective role models and leaders within the Rostrevor context. It was a valuable and enriching experience that will support the ongoing development of each of our College Prefects.

Boarding at Rostrevor

Each year, around 60 boys from across Australia enjoy Duggan House's first-class facilities and inclusive environment where wellbeing and fostering a sense of brotherhood are the focus.

Do you know someone considering Boarding for their son? They are invited to register for our upcoming AFL Gather Round Boarding Tour or a Personal Tour to meet staff and students, and experience firsthand the Rostrevor spirit.

From the Agriculture Farm

It has been a busy and productive start to the year on Rostrevor’s Agriculture Farm. Year 12 students have been planning their major trials, with many choosing cropping‑based practical investigations. Year 11 students have been exploring Agricultural Technology—designing their own products and pitching them in a Shark Tank‑style presentation. They have also commenced their winemaking unit.

Year 10 students have been diving into hydroponics, constructing systems, growing produce, as well as extracting honey from our beehives. They have now begun their aquaculture studies, in which they are excited to learn about our brand‑new system to grow barramundi.

Year 9 students have been busy raising chicks—now four weeks old—and learning about the poultry industry, including conducting feed trials on our hens. Meanwhile, Year 7 students have been getting their first taste of Agriculture, learning the fundamentals of plant growth and animal care.
