Manchester City UK Football Tour
Twenty keen soccer players, three teachers and I landed back on Australian soil on the weekend after an incredible two-week Manchester City football tour of the UK. The boys spent their time training and learning from one of the most decorated clubs in the world in between tours of the Etihad, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Aresenal stadiums, attending a variety of professional games and experiencing all the UK has to offer.
A true highlight was being surprised with a meet and greet with Matildas and Manchester City player Mary Fowler on the first day, after which we were fortunate to see her play! It was the trip of a lifetime for the students, who all had a blast learning, growing and creating lifelong memories at the home of Manchester City FC.

ANZAC Day
On ANZAC Day, we pause to remember those who have or are currently serving their country in armed conflict.
On the morning of 25 April, the Rostrevor College Prefect group were fortunate to hear from daughter of Rostrevor Old Collegian Michelle Matthews at The Gums ANZAC Day Dawn Service, who spoke of her father’s time serving in the Vietnam War. Her father, Bruno Adamczyk, was only 22 years old when he was killed in combat days before he was due to return home. There is a plaque to commemorate Bruno in the garden outside the Rostrevor College Chapel.
On Wednesday this week, Middle and Senior Years students gathered in their House groups to hear about ANZAC Day and the significance of why we mark the day each year.
Lest we forget.
Junior Years Edmund Rice Day Mass
Rostrevor is lucky to be part of the tight-knit community of Edmund Rice schools from across the world. Each year, all of these schools celebrate Edmund Rice Day with a Mass. Today, the Junior Years participated in a special Mass in the Chapel led by Old Collegian Fr Anthony Beltrame (’09), learning about the important work of Edmund before receiving the Eucharist. Middle and Senior Years students will be participating in a separate Mass on Wednesday next week.
Agriculture Excursion to Sidewood Winery
Yesterday, the Stage 1 Agriculture classes travelled up to Nairne to tour Sidewood winery and surrounding vineyards. Consulting Winemaker Darryl spoke passionately to the boys about vineyard management, and Hugh, Nick and Chief Winemaker Dylan showed the boys around their winery facilities. Seeing how wine is made at a commercial scale complemented the learning they have done so far in the classroom. Themes of sustainability and technology were explored throughout the winemaking process, as well as many examples of employment opportunities within the industry.
