Year 7 Activity Days

The Year 7 Activity Days this week were a fantastic way for the cohort to get to know one another and extend their comfort zones in a fun and challenging environment outside the classroom. Students spent three days snorkelling and fishing at Port Noarlunga, rock climbing and taking on Challenge Hill at the Mount Lofty Adventure Hub and paddleboarding and kayaking at Garden Island. Thank you to Camps Coordinator Mark Roberts for organising this valuable experience.

College Tour

Thank you to College Registrar Megan McCormack and the Year 12 Prefects who helped to facilitate the first College Tour of the year yesterday. We had around 30 families come along to experience and learn more about our College.

Rostrevor is now finalising enrolments for 2026. If you would like to enrol one of your children, or know of someone looking to enrol for 2026, please contact Megan at your earliest convenience at mmccormack@rostrevor.sa.edu.au, or on (08) 8364 8200.

RUN DIPG Moonlight Gala

Last year, our community said goodbye to much loved Year 7 Loreto College student Ava Lynch after her short battle with cancer. Ava was well-known in our community, being the younger sister of Charles (’21) and Harrison (’23), and the daughter of Christina and Darren Lynch – Darren also being a current School Advisory Council member.

The RUN DIPG charity, which raises awareness and undertakes crucial research into the type of cancer that Ava had, is holding their first annual fundraiser in Adelaide on 17 May this year. Tickets to RUN DIPG’s Moonlight Gala are on sale now.

Rostrevor Café

With the College’s new partnership with catering service Chartwells, we have seen a refresh of the Rostrevor Café (formerly the canteen).

Students are now offered healthier and more diverse foods at recess and lunch, and staff and visitors are enjoying the in-house barista. For more information on the newly renovated Café, please see the letter sent to families

CO-CURRICULAR NEWS

Year 9/10 Knockout Cricket

On Monday this week, the Rostrevor Year 9/10 Knockout Team put on a dominant display against Golden Grove High School, amassing 0/198 off just 15 overs. Archah Parisi was unstoppable with a blistering 111* alongside Jacques Malan, who finished unbeaten on 81*. Our bowlers then made quick work of the opposition, dismissing them for just 45, with Oscar Crafter claiming three wickets and Oliver Johnson picking up two.

Backing up on Tuesday, we faced Roma Mitchell and restricted them to 140, with sharp fielding leading to four crucial run-outs, including an incredible three in a single over. The chase was steady and controlled, with Archah once again leading the way with an unbeaten 81*, guiding us home with just three wickets down.

South Australian Schools Cycling Competition

The annual South Australian Schools Cycling competition was held Tuesday this week at Victoria Park Racecourse. Rostrevor had three experienced cyclists competing this year; Aiden Launer, Liam Underwood and Ryan Underwood.

The day started with an individual time trial, where students started in 30-second intervals. Liam finished the time trial in third and Ryan in ninth position. Aiden finished in fifteenth despite having a knee injury and being on crutches only days before. All three students qualified for the A grade races, which were a points race and criterium. Liam finished fourth for the day, only five points behind the leader. Ryan finished eighth, which is a fantastic effort considering he was considerably younger than most A grade riders. Aiden managed to stay with the peloton for the criterium race and was happy to complete the race with his current injury.

Mountain biking is the next cycling event on the SA School Sports calendar. If your son is interested, he is encouraged to enquire with Mr Hunt or the Co-Curricular team (no experience necessary).

Touch Football

Rostrevor’s Middle A and B Touch Football teams faced strong competition this week, taking on Cabra Dominican College and Sacred Heart College respectively on Wednesday. Although both Rostrevor teams were bested, they played with determination, with standout players being Patrick Sos and Myles Etheridge from Middle A, and Cooper Shaw and Luca Marinelli from Middle B.
