Come & Try Day

On Monday we welcomed 50 boys considering joining Rostrevor in Year 7 to our College for an opportunity to experience the Middle Years in the Rostrevor environment. They started the day with some get-to-know-you activities before participating in Science, Agriculture, Technology, Music and Manchester City Football School classes. While most participants are enrolled or have enrolment interviews scheduled, the day also served as a way for a handful of prospective students to get a feel for Rostrevor before making decisions with their families about their secondary schooling.

2027 enrolments are now open. Families seeking a 2027 entry for their son are encouraged to contact College Registrar Megan McCormack.

Warrina Park Nursing Home Visit

Over the past four weeks, six Year 11 students have taken part in an intergenerational research project led by Adelaide University with residents at Warrina Park. Each week, the students met with Betty and Jenny, listening to their life stories and exploring their histories through Virtual Reality (VR).

The VR experience brought the past to life, sparking conversations and memories while helping students and residents build genuine connections. The project aimed to explore how different generations share knowledge using technology and how these interactions support social wellbeing. With the project coming to an end, we now await the results of the study.

“This experience was something different to what I usually do. I had been to aged care homes but never spent as much time to get to know the residents as Jenny and Betty. We had spent multiple weeks hearing about their amazing lives and their backgrounds. It was a really touching moment seeing these ladies light up as they reminisced on everything they had done and see them smile when they visited familiar places through VR. Even though the experience is finished, I would still love to go visit these two ladies as well as wanting to get to know a few more residents in Warrina Park.”—Reece Barrett

“Over the past four weeks I was privileged to take part in this experience. It was a great time spending time with the residents of the Warrina Park nursing home, Betty and Jenny. It was great hearing their stories. It was also great seeing where Betty and Jenny used to live through the VR and it was amazing learning about their lives.”—Andrew Henderson

“Over the past four weeks, I have had experiences that I never imagined being a part of. Visiting the aged care home and using technology to connect across generations gave me the chance to learn and grow. Listening to Jenny talk about her trips to Papua New Guinea and hearing Betty share the places she has travelled opened my perspective on life and showed me the value of stories and lived experiences. Exploring these journeys through technology made the conversations more engaging and meaningful. This experience has reminded me of the importance of connection and encouraged me to think about the differences I can make in the lives of others.”—Alessio Maiorano

“My time in Warrina Park was nothing but amazing. Before arriving, I was unsure what I would get. However, by connecting and learning about Jenny and Betty’s stories, it opened a new perspective on life and showed me that one should try to know people before judging them. I learned that not everything is about money or how many assets you have, but the positive impacts you have on others in your life. Jenny’s story taught me about the importance of helping people less fortunate than you and how much it can change their lives. Betty taught me the importance of gratitude, and by telling me here story through VR it helped me visualise what other people go through, especially the older generations. Overall, both these wise women showed me things about myself I didn’t think I’d find. The VR connected us as two separate generations and bonded us through it. I had a great time throughout this journey and highly recommend it to others.”—Hugo Jaeschke

New Life on the Agriculture Farm

This time of year is always busy at Rostrevor's Agriculture Farm. The sheep have been lambing, the goats have been kidding, and new layer chicks have been bought in. These enterprises will form part of the curriculum for various year levels over the course of the semester with links to practical farm skills, technologies and marketing being covered. They will eventually be sold, with earnings re-invested back into the Agriculture program.

Junior Years SAPSASA Athletics Carnival

Recently, a selected group of Junior Years students travelled to Bridgestone Stadium to compete in the District SAPSASA Athletics Carnival. Year 9/10 Knockout Soccer

On Thursday last week, Rostrevor’s Year 9/10 Knockout Soccer team competed in the second stage of the competition, playing a home game on Womma Oval against a strong Roma Mitchell side.

In perfect conditions, the match proved to be a high-quality and hard-fought contest. Despite our team displaying outstanding determination, teamwork and sportsmanship, Roma Mitchell proved too strong on the day, securing a 3–1 victory. Rostrevor’s goal came through Joseph Musolino, who finished superbly from long range after a well-worked passage of play. We commend the boys for a solid and competitive campaign and congratulate Roma Mitchell on progressing to the next stage.
