Presentation Night

Thank you to the many parents, caregivers and families who gathered at Futures Church on Monday night to support the College’s largest community event of the year. Presentation Night is a time for the Rostrevor community to gather and celebrate the outstanding academic and personal achievements of our students. The night highlights the importance Rostrevor places on learning and personal growth in our students, and also serves as a platform to showcase the talented musicians from across the school.

The evening ended with the Passing of the Colours - a symbolic and emotive tradition where Rostrevor's youngest students accept the College flag from the outgoing Prefects to present to next year's Prefect group. As they pass the flag, the Year 12 class passes on their good wishes and prayers to the students they leave behind - those who will carry on the traditions of the College.

World Teachers’ Day

Happy World Teachers’ Day! Today is a day to celebrate and thank the amazing teaching and ESO staff we have here at Rostrevor College, and also the teachers amongst the parents, caregivers and wider Rostrevor community members. We thank them for their dedication, their passion, their unwavering support and for making a difference every day! Our teachers and ESO staff were treated to a morning tea to mark the occasion this morning.

Briscola and Scopa Tournament

On Wednesday, students in Years 9, 10 and 11 from Rostrevor and Mary MacKillop Colleges came together for the annual Briscola and Scopa Tournament, celebrating two traditional Italian card games with a rich cultural history dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. These games continue to be treasured by Italian families and communities around the world, preserving connections to heritage, homeland and cherished memories.

Students enjoyed a delicious traditional Italian lunch of pizza and cannoli and competed in a series of exciting matches. The final rounds were closely contested, showcasing skill, strategy and sportsmanship from all participants. Congratulations to this year's winners from Mary MacKillop College: Savannah, Elisa, Giada, Lucy and Ester. Well done to all students who participated and helped make the day a success.

Congratulations to Spencer De Lacy, Harry Whalan and Luca Marinelli who represented Rostrevor at the 2026 VIVA SA All Schools Athletics Competition over the weekend. Spencer added to his extensive medal collection with bronze in the U18 100m, 400m and Shotput, silver in the U17 Discus and gold in the Long Jump amongst his many events, breaking four school records in the process. This performance has earned him a place at the 2026 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics All Schools Championships where he will compete in the 100m, Discus, Shotput, Long Jump, U18 Men's 4x100m and Mixed 4x400m. We wish him luck as he then travels to the Capital Athletics Junior Championships at Canberra, where he will attempt to break the national and state U18 Decathlon records!

Harry also came away with an impressive haul of medals from the weekend, with gold in the U16 Discus and Shotput and silver in the Hammer Throw. Luca finished with a silver medal in the U15 200m Hurdles and fourth place in the U15 Javelin. Well done to all three boys on such an impressive performance representing Rostrevor in this state athletics event.

Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival

Yesterday, selected Years 3 to 6 students competed in the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival at Athletics SA Stadium. We had some fantastic individual results, finishing fifth overall! All the boys participated with great effort and respect on and off the track.

There were some outstanding individual performances through the day across both track and field events, including Enzo De Dominicis's impressive 1.40m High Jump, earning him second place in Year 6.

Well done to the Year 6 boys who won the overall Year 6 Year Level division, with all students contributing to the result. The relay team ran an impressive 4 x 100m in 57.85 seconds, winning by 30m, and almost beating the previous Catholic Schools record (currently held by the 2022 Year 6 Rostrevor students) by just over a second (56.5). A special thanks to Senior School students Reece Barrett, Liam Davis and Spender De Lacy who helped out officiating events.

Year 9/10 Knockout Basketball

Rostrevor's Year 9/10 Knockout Basketball team played in the Quarter Final for the School Sport SA Division 1 Competition today. Hosted on campus, the team played against a solid outfit in Henley High School. The first quarter showed some nerves with Henley being up by six points at the break. After some change of tactics, the boys eventually gained momentum and played a very impressive three quarters of Basketball with the final score reading RC 67 - HEN 44. Rostrevor's best players were Angus Connole (22 Points) and Dylan Lomman (15 Points). We wish the team the best of luck as they now progress to the Finals next Wednesday at the State Basketball Centre where they will play against Encounter Lutheran College for a spot in the Division 1 Grand Final.

Reception & Year 1 Basketball

The Reception and Year 1 Jumpstart Basketball program commenced in Week 2 with more than 30 students from the Mid-Year Reception, Reception and Year 1 classes getting involved on Wednesday afternoons! Run by Simply Sports, the program provides a fun and engaging introduction to basketball, helping our youngest Rostrevor students develop their skills, build confidence and learn to play together.

The session was filled with positive attitudes and plenty of smiles, with a focus on having fun, giving things a go and enjoying being active. It’s fantastic to see so many of Rostrevor's youngest students embracing the opportunity to get involved and develop a love of sport from an early age.
