Year 12 Formal

The Year 12s were dressed to the nines on Saturday night at the 2026 Year 12 Formal, the wet weather not dampening the excited atmosphere. Students and their guests enjoyed an evening of friendship, fun, food and dancing as they made memories to last a lifetime at the beginning of their final year of schooling.

Year 10 Stepping Up Day

Stepping Up Day is a powerful and engaging experience for Year 10 students, providing them with an opportunity to connect with their male mentors while participating in a series of challenges designed to foster resilience, teamwork and personal growth.

The day features a high-intensity workout and problem-solving tasks, each carefully designed to strengthen bonds between students and mentors. Through these experiences, students were able to push beyond their comfort zones, gaining confidence in their abilities while learning the value of trust and collaboration.

Beyond the physical and mental challenges, Stepping Up Day also addressed key issues facing adolescent men today. Through guided discussions and shared experiences, students explored contemporary topics such as societal stereotypes, vulnerability, technology, anxiety and stress management. Fittingly, on the eve of International Women’s Day the experiences also focussed on the importance of building respectful relationships and standing in solidarity with the wonderful women in our lives. By engaging with their mentors – men who have walked similar paths before them – students gained valuable insights into navigating these challenges.

Come & Try Day

On Wednesday we welcomed 30 boys considering joining Rostrevor in Year 7 to our College for an opportunity to experience secondary schooling in the Rostrevor environment. They started the day with some get-to-know-you activities before participating in Science, Agriculture, Technology, Music and Manchester City Football School classes.

Do you know someone considering a Year 7 enrolment for their son in 2027 or 2028? Make sure they register for the June Come & Try Day

International Women's Day Breakfast

This morning, Rostrevor’s Prefect group attended the International Women’s Day breakfast at the Adelaide Convention Centre to learn more about the initiative and how they can help in the pursuit of gender equality. They heard empowering addresses from Senator the Hon Penny Wong and this year’s Australian of the Year, Katherine Bennell-Pegg – the first astronaut to officially represent Australia, and the first Australian woman to receive professional astronaut wings.

On Tuesday morning, several of Rostrevor's Year 12 student leaders also attended the International Women’s Day Breakfast at St Peter’s College. They heard from an inspiring panel of guest speakers, including Chelsea Randall (AFLW), Jess Adamson (7News, FiveAA), Kellie Jamieson (Edible Blooms) and Fiona Dorman (President, National Council of Women).

The speakers highlighted the importance of equality and the influential role young people play in shaping a more inclusive society. Our students also had the opportunity to speak personally with Chelsea Randall about her journey and to discuss the kind of men they aspire to be in today’s world.

Year 5 Warrina Park Nursing Home Visit

Yesterday, Miss Galia Kay's Year 5 class visited residents at Warrina Park as part of thier Service Learning program. The boys spent a wonderful morning connecting with residents and building meaningful relationships across generations.

One of the highlights of the visit was a passing/hitting the balloon game, which provided plenty of laughter while also helping residents practise hand–eye coordination and physical movement.

Following the game, students introduced themselves and spent time chatting with residents, sharing stories and learning about their experiences. These conversations were a powerful reminder of the value of listening, kindness and human connection. Experiences such as these help students grow in empathy and gratitude while recognising the importance of community and caring for others. We thank the staff and residents at Warrina Park for their warm welcome and look forward to continuing to build these special relationships throughout the year.

At the nursing home, I played a balloon game, it was so fun. We had to tap the balloon to the residents, and they had to hit it. I talked to a senior, she was very nice and sweet. She came from Italy. I also met this very nice man who loved playing with us and he was energetic! – Shayan Ismail

At the nursing home we did a balloon game. We had to stand in the middle and pass the ball to the residents. I talked to Bob and Ellie and some other residents. Bob was the funniest because he told me his nickname is Big Bob. – Hugo Underdown

At the nursing home we had an amazing time playing "keepy uppy" which is a balloon game. I talked to a lot of residents and all of them were nice. The best time was, well all of it! I would definitely go again! – Jonty Commerford

Year 7 Prefect Activities

On Friday last week, our College Prefects engaged with all Year 7 students in a range of different physical activities. This was a great opportunity for our senior student leaders to engage with our youngest Senior School students. The role modelling from our Prefects was clear to see, as was the energy on show from our Year 7 boys. They shared a joint morning tea to conclude the session, and the Year 7s have been invited to share their feedback on their first five weeks of Senior School.

CO-CURRICULAR NEWS

Adelaide 36ers Visit

On Monday we welcomed two players from the Adelaide 36ers Basketball team to the College to run a workshop with a group of our keen Senior School basketballers. Bryce Cotton and Zylan Cheatham ran a Q&A session, sharing valuable advice and life experiences before challenging students to a shot competition. They ended the workshop with a photo opportunity, handing out signed shirts and posters. We thank the players and Adelaide 36ers staff for coming along to facilitate this amazing experience for the boys.

Year 9/10 T20 Cricket v Westminster

Rostrevor achieved a nail-biting victory against Westminster School in the opening round of the Year 9/10 T20 Knockout Cricket competition. Batting first, Rostrevor made a score of 4/120 off the 20 overs. Daksh Batan was our highest run scorer with 41, and Tyler Hitch also made a notable 28.

In their reply, Westminster fell only four runs short. Needing eight off the last over, Sidney McDonald held his nerve and kept the over to just three runs with four wickets falling in the over (three run outs and a catch). In what was a thrilling game of cricket, the Rostrevor team held their nerve and will proceed to the next round of the Knockout competition.
