As 2025 draws to a close, it’s a perfect time to reflect on what has been a truly special and eventful year in the Boarding House. From unforgettable competitions to proud achievements in sport, academics and leadership, our boarders have continued to embody the values and spirit of Rostrevor across every aspect of their school life.
Volleyball Competition
This term's Boarding Volleyball competition was one of the most exciting interhouse competitions we’ve had, showcasing outstanding teamwork, athletic improvement and house spirit across all year levels. Each round brought fast rallies, big blocks, passionate celebrations and plenty of friendly rivalry as the four houses battled for crucial Duggan Cup points. Pink, Green, Yellow and Blue all produced strong performances throughout the season, with several matches decided by only a few points. The skill level across the board rose week by week, thanks to excellent leadership from senior players and the encouraging, supportive environment created by teammates on and off the court. Grand Final Night delivered an unforgettable finish. Blue defeated Yellow convincingly in the first match, but Yellow responded with grit and composure in the decider, edging out Blue in a tight three-set thriller to claim the championship. Charlie Best earned a well-deserved Finals MVP for his mobility and leadership, while Jack Hein capped off an exceptional season by being named Season MVP. It was a brilliant campaign full of development, sportsmanship and moments the boys will remember. The future of Boarding Volleyball looks incredibly bright.
Year 12 Graduation
To our graduating Year 12 boarders, we thank you for your leadership, presence and contribution to boarding life over the years. You’ve been role models for our younger students and have left behind a legacy of pride and connection. We wish you all the very best as you take on new challenges beyond the gates of Rostrevor. You will always be part of our boarding family.
Awards Dinners
In Term 3, we held an American-themed dinner night complete with a burger bar, an American sports quiz and an ice cream parlour for dessert. It was a fun and relaxed night to break up the term. Congratulations to our Boarders of the Term for that period: Jarrah Reidy in Year 11 and Harry Heath in Year 10.
In Term 4, our Contribution to Boarding awards went to Tyler Hitch in Year 9, Jack Hein in Year 10, and Edward McCallum in Year 11. The Duggan House Award for Extraordinary Contribution to Boarding Life was presented to Kyran Cole-Manolis for his leadership, positive influence and impact on the culture of our house.
Presentation Night
We were also proud to see a number of our boarders recognised for their academic excellence at Presentation Night. Tyler Hitch in Year 9 received the Health and PE award. In Year 10, Jack Hein was awarded for Mathematics (Pre-Essential) and Boyd Jarman for Outdoor Education. In Year 11, Harvey Pearce was recognised for Wood Tech, Sam Richards received both English (Essential) and Maths (Essential), and Matt Bird was awarded for PE. In Year 12, Ned McCarthy received the English (Essential) award.
Transition Night
Our Transition Night for new boarders was a great success. The incoming students were introduced through our House Colour Draft, which included a lottery draw and the presentation of their team caps. The night then shifted into a series of “Taskmaster-style” challenges, with activities including moving peas with toothpicks, blowing on toy umbrellas, bingo, blindfold drawing and other team-based games designed to build bonds and create laughter.
Manchester City Football School Trip
One of our Year 9 boarders, Khenan, had a fantastic opportunity to travel to Melbourne as part of the Manchester City Soccer Program. This was a valuable experience for him as he continues to develop in the sport.
We are so proud of all our boarders and their efforts throughout 2025. From our youngest Year 9s to our graduating Year 12s, each student has contributed something special to our community. Thank you to our boarding families for your continued support and involvement. We wish you a safe, relaxing and joyful summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026.
