Year 11 Formal
The Year 11 Formal was a night to remember! Held at JDF Receptions on Friday last week, students and their guests were treated to an evening of good food, good company and a lively dance floor. It was an opportunity for the cohort to spend valuable time together in a social setting before they focus on their studies in preparation for exams.
Middle & Senior Years Music Night
Music Night on Tuesday this week was a resounding success, held in the beautiful Norwood Town Hall, it featured talented students from both the Middle and Senior Years. The evening showcased a wide variety of ensembles, including Big Bands, Rock Bands, Jazz Bands, the Vocal Ensemble and the Guitar Ensemble. Each group brought their unique style and energy to the stage, creating a vibrant and entertaining program for all in attendance.
The event was a celebration of our students’ hard work, creativity and dedication to their musical craft. It was wonderful to see the joy and pride on their faces as they performed for an enthusiastic audience of family, friends and staff. Music Night not only highlighted the depth of talent within our school community but also the power of music to bring people together. A huge congratulations to all involved for making the night such a memorable experience!

Year 12 ROCA Presentation
The Rostrevor journey doesn’t end at graduation. The Year 12 cohort heard from representatives from the ROCA Football, Soccer, Cricket and Handball clubs yesterday who spoke to them about joining their teams next year. The clubs have thriving numbers and are all experiencing success in their leagues this season, offering options for those who wish to participate at a high level through to those who simply wish to keep active and have fun with their Rostrevor mates. They also heard from ROCA President Angelo Piantadosi (’82) about how ROCA keeps Old Collegians connected for life after graduation through the lenses of business, sport and life before enjoying a BBQ cooked by the ROCA committee.
Year 10 Respectful Relationships Day
On Wednesday, Rostrevor College hosted a special Respectful Relationships Day in partnership with our sister school, Loreto College. The event provided Year 10 students from both schools with a valuable opportunity to connect as they learned about the importance of respect, authenticity and shared values in the lives of young people.
The afternoon began with a shared lunch, giving students the chance to socialise and build connections across the two colleges. This was followed by meaningful conversations focused on the importance of developing an authentic identity while upholding key values and principles amidst the challenges of adolescence. Alongside these discussions, students enjoyed a wide range of activities of their choice, including art, table tennis, card games, futsal, reading, handball, netball and a quiz.
Year 3 Cooking Lessons
On Friday last week, the Year 3 class went on an adventure to Homefresh Cooking Experience where they learned how to prepare a healthy meal, gaining skills to last a lifetime!
Adelaide Day Centre Volunteering
On Tuesday, members of Rostrevor’s Social Justice Group had the opportunity to visit Kildare College and work alongside their Living Justice students to prepare food for the Adelaide Day Centre, a place whose purpose is the provision of non-residential day care to Adelaide’s most disadvantaged. Together, the students cooked soup and baked cookies, which were gratefully received by volunteers and distributed to those in need later that day. The afternoon was not only about providing nourishment for others, but also about fostering connection and solidarity between the two school communities. Our students embraced the chance to collaborate, share stories, and experience first-hand the value of serving with compassion.
At the Social Justice meeting later that day, the boys spoke very highly of the experience, many noting how rewarding it felt to contribute in such a tangible way. We are very grateful to Kildare College for their warm hospitality and spirit of partnership, and we look forward to working together again in service of the wider community.
“The Social Justice group went to Kildare College, where we worked together on making Soup and Cookies. Working side by side gave us the chance to talk and make new friends. We laughed, shared ideas, and learned from each other. I felt good doing something kind for the homeless community.” — Emmanouel Pishas
Year 3 Love in a Cup
As part of Year 3 Service Learning, the class prepared a ‘Love in a Cup’ to donate to St Vincent de Paul. Through the initiative, they prepared all the ingredients for warm drinks and shared messages of kindness for those supported by St Vincent de Paul — people who may not have something warm to drink, or even someone to talk to. Each cup prepared wasn’t just filled with something to make a warm to drink — it was filled with love, kindness, prayers and hope.
The Year 3s learned that that’s what it means to be followers of Jesus — to be the warmth in someone’s day, to be the light in someone’s darkness and to be the neighbour someone has been waiting for. Thank you to Mark from St Vincent de Paul who joined them for a class Liturgy to collect the cups.
Jupiter Supports Visit
The Social Justice group has been hard at work alongside volunteers from Jupiter Supports, helping to plan and organise a fundraising Quiz Night on 18 October in support of the Little Heroes Foundation. This collaboration has been a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in meaningful service with differently abled people while developing their leadership and organisational skills.
Jupiter Supports is a not-for-profit organisation that provides personalised assistance and opportunities for people living with disability. The Little Heroes Foundation works to improve the lives of seriously ill children and their families by funding essential support services, mental health programs and vital equipment. Their mission is to ensure that children facing health challenges receive not only medical care, but also the emotional and practical support needed to thrive.
Through this partnership, our students have contributed to brainstorming quiz themes, planning games and activities and promoting the event within our community. The quiz night will be a fun-filled evening with a powerful purpose.
Junior Years Thriving People Event
On Tuesday this week, three First Nations students from Rostrevor’s Junior Years travelled to the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre for the Thriving People primary schools event. This special event gave students the opportunity to build friendships, celebrate together and deepen their understanding of culture and identity. Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of cultural activities, including clapstick painting, Wodli building, dancing and exploring water bugs. These hands-on experiences allowed students to explore and express culture in new and meaningful ways.

Interhouse Basketball Competition
Over the past two weeks, the Interhouse Basketball Competition has sparked excitement and friendly rivalry across the College, as both Middle and Senior Years students showcased their talent, teamwork and determination on the court. Lunchtimes were filled with fast-paced matches, enthusiastic cheering and the unmistakable spirit of House pride.
Guided by committed House Captains and Prefects, the event highlighted the joy of participation, encouragement among peers and the bonds that strengthen our College culture. Congratulations to Barron House, winners of the Middle Years competition, and to Webb House, who claimed victory in the Senior Years competition!
