Today we welcomed back Old Collegians from the Class of ’24 and their families for this year’s Dux Assembly, gathering as a school community to celebrate the exceptional academic achievements of last year’s graduates. I and the entire academic staff at Rostrevor are extremely proud of what the cohort was able to achieve, with every student having reached their personal best by the end of the year. We are also proud that every student achieved their SACE, which is the eighth year in a row the Rostrevor Year 12 cohort has accomplished this feat!

The Old Collegians present at today’s ceremony consisted of 18% of the Class of ’24 who achieved an ATAR of 90 or above, the 16 students who were awarded a Merit and the 27 students who achieved an A+ grade. We also heard inspiring words from College Dux Alex Clark and 2015 Proxime Accessit Darcy Pisani.

I would like to thank the many people who supported the Class of ’24 on their 13-year academic journey and wish Rostrevor’s most recent Old Collegians all the best as they move forward onto new pursuits.

Governor’s Commendation Ceremony

Congratulations to 2024 Head Prefect and College Dux, Alex Clark who was awarded the Governor of South Australia Excellence in SACE award at a ceremony at Government House yesterday.

Alex was presented the Award for demonstrating extensive understanding in all seven SACE capabilities. Incredibly, this is the sixth year in a row that a Rostrevor graduate has received a Governor's Commendation!

Year 8 Camp

Our Year 8 students participated in their camp last week on and around Hindmarsh Island. Students spent half of the program situated at a base camp where they tried their hand at surfing, fishing and enjoyed some sightseeing. The second half of the program saw the boys engaged in a kayaking expedition where they camped in tents and cooked their own meals on a Trangia stove. All students should be commended for the resilience that they demonstrated and their willingness to participate in all activities on offer.

Middle & Senior Years Parent Information Evening

Thank you to the parents and caregivers of Years 7 to 12 students who came along to the Parent Information Evening on Monday. Events like these play an important role in us working together as educators and families to provide the best learning opportunities for students.

Manchester City Football School Year 6 Program

This year, we are excited to extend our Manchester City Football School offerings to include an after-school program for Year 6 students. The program kicked off this week, with a group of eager young footballers taking part in the session with coach, Jamie Lee. Students who participate in these 16 sessions across Terms 1 and 4 will be well-acquainted with the Manchester City methodologies and philosophies if they choose to undertake the Football School as part of their curriculum next year.

Pick Up & Drop Off

The safety of students and all community members is of utmost importance, and we all have a part to play in providing this through the way we drive around the College area. To assist us in ensuring the safety of students during pick-up and drop-off times, we ask that you do not drive onto campus. For more information, please see the letter sent to families today.

CO-CURRICULUR NEWS

Middle Years Water Polo

Rostrevor’s Co-Curricular Program is back in full swing for the 2025 school year. This week, the Middle Years Water Polo team took on Blackfriars at the St Peter’s College pool, coming away with a 10 to 6 goal win.

It was a special game for Rostrevor’s longest serving teacher Tony Purvis, who had the honour of coaching two sons of two of his former students who played on the College team he coached in the 90s. The moment was made even more memorable when he learned a third former student who he’d coached on his water polo team was also there with his son who attends Immanuel College. Tony also taught current Rostrevor teacher Justin Chung (’94), whose son Jayden is on the Middle Years Water Polo team.

In the photo above is Derek Seret (’90), Zach Seret (Year 9), Tony Purvis, Luca Ricci (Year 8), Don Jon Ricci (’91), Fabrizio Porcaro (’90) and his son Emilio.
