As we come to the end of another busy term, I take this opportunity to thank all the parents and caregivers in our community who work tirelessly and sometimes thanklessly to set every student up for success in their education. Your efforts ensure that your boys can continue to thrive across their academic, co-curricular and social justice pursuits, making the most of their time at Rostrevor.
Looking ahead to another busy Term 4, I hope that every Rostrevor family has an opportunity to rest and reset over these next two weeks. In particular, I hope that Year 11 and 12 students allow themselves time to relax before they come back to embark on their end of year exams and assignments.
Wishing all Rostrevor families a safe, fun and restful holidays before we return in summer uniform (including hats) on Monday 13 October.

Touchstone Assembly
Students in the Middle and senior Years who have displayed Rostrevor’s touchstone values of Liberating Education, Gospel Spirituality, Inclusive Community and Justice and Solidarity were formally recognised at our Touchstone Assembly today. These awards celebrate students who emanate the qualities of the Touchstones through actions for their House and wider community throughout the year. Students who have accumulated a multitude of Service activities in the local and wider community were also recognised with Social Justice and Service Learning awards.
First Nations Students Graduation Celebration
On Monday, five of Rostrevor’s Year 12 First Nations students were invited to attend an event hosted by Catholic Education South Australia to mark the completion of their schooling. The event was a fantastic opportunity to pause and reflect on their educational journeys and to celebrate alongside First Nations students from other South Australian Catholic schools.
Sydney Music Tour
A group of dedicated music students embarked on an exciting tour to Sydney for the Manly Jazz Festival over the weekend. This incredible opportunity allowed them to experience live performances by some of Australia’s finest musicians, including the prestigious Conservatorium Big Band 1, alongside many of Sydney’s top session players. The festival was an inspiring showcase of talent and musical excellence that left our students motivated and eager to grow their own skills.
Beyond the festival, the tour was packed with unforgettable experiences. Students enjoyed a fascinating guided tour of the iconic Sydney Opera House before embarking on the thrilling Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb and taking a trip to Luna Park.
Another highlight was a visit to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where students explored the facilities and got a glimpse into the life of a music student at one of Australia’s top music institutions. This tour was not only a fantastic musical experience but also a wonderful chance for the students to bond and create lasting memories in one of Australia’s most vibrant cities.
Year 9 Rite Journey Excursion
Students in the Year 9 Rite Journey program undertook a high-ropes challenge day on Tuesday this week. Based at various locations around Adelaide such as the Barossa Valley, Woodhouse and Blewitt Springs, the Year 9s were involved in team building activities, physical challenges as well as facing their fears on a high ropes challenge which took many out of their comfort zones. The camaraderie between the students and their Rite Journey teacher mentors was clear to see and was a fitting way to round off the Abyss camp program from Week 8.
Catholic Schools Music Festival
Students from our Junior Years proudly took part in the Catholic Schools Music Festival this week, held at The Convention Centre. Their voices formed part of a vibrant combined choir that lit up the evening with energy and spirit. Representing our school in the onstage vocal ensemble were talented performers Henry Askem and Lincoln Holloway. We were also thrilled to see Sebastian Conhye take the stage as one of two guest compères, bringing charm and confidence to the event. Adding to the excitement of both Monday and Tuesday evening were exceptional performances by both the Senior Band and the Small Jazz Ensemble, who were featured as special guests. It was a memorable celebration of musical talent and collaboration across Catholic schools.
Italian Film Immersion
Yesterday, the Year 9, 10 and 11 Italian language students had the opportunity to view an Italian film as part of the 2025 ST. ALi Italian Film Festival. Students attended the Palace Nova cinemas at Prospect along with students from Mary MacKillop College to watch 10 Giorni Con I Suoi (When Mum is Away... With The In-laws), a comedy film co-written and directed by Alessandro Genovesi, starring Fabio De Luigi and Valentina Lodovini. It is the sequel of When Mom Is Away... With the Family and the third chapter in the film series outlining the adventures of the Rovelli family. This time, they’re heading to Puglia, where their eldest daughter, Camilla, is moving to attend university with her boyfriend, Antonio. The excursion was an opportunity to celebrate the Italian language and gain insight into life in modern-day Italy.
Social Justice Group Celebration
Rostrevor’s Social Justice group is made up of students from Years 7-12 who consistently donate their time and energy into pursuits which contribute positively to the lives of those in our community who need their help most. As a way of saying thank you for their efforts across the year, they were invited to a celebration in the Pavilion today where they enjoyed a delicious spread of food brought in by members of the group.
