Congratulations to all those Year 10 and 11 students who completed their end of year exams this week. As they now conclude for the 2025 academic year, we look forward to seeing them return in 2026 as the senior leaders of the College.

As we approach the final week for our Reception to Year 9 classes, this period continues to be dedicated to learning, thoughtful reflection on the year, and anticipation of new opportunities in 2026. We look forward to gathering as a community next Thursday as we farewell the 2025 school year together with the Reception to Year 9 Christmas Liturgy.

Year 9 Rite Journey Homecoming Celebration

The 2025 Year 9 Rite Journey ended yesterday afternoon with the emotive and meaningful Homecoming Ceremony. This was the culmination of nine months of the program which saw students have engage positively with teachers and mentors on topical and relevant issues.

Following many different events and activities including a recent high ropes challenge and visit to Mary MacKillop College, students shared letters of gratitude with their families and mentors, marking the completion of their journey in the Middle Years, and their transition from childhood to being a young adult.

Year 6 Camp

The three-day, two-night Year 6 camp to Port Hughes was a truly rewarding experience for all students in their second to last week in the Junior Years. Throughout the program, the boys were encouraged to build confidence, develop leadership skills and work cooperatively as a team. They took part in a range of land and aquatic adventures, including fishing, snorkelling, farm exploration, raft-building and kayaking. The camp offered countless opportunities for camaraderie and personal growth. It was a memorable experience for every student – one they will carry with them for many years to come. A big thank you to the attending staff who ensured the boys had a great time!

National White Ribbon Day

National White Ribbon Day, held on 25 November, is a day to raise awareness for and to help prevent violence against women. Rostrevor College formally acknowledged the day on Friday last week so that the Year 11 cohort could take part and learn about the important issue before they left for SWOT VAC. After presentations about respect, equality and how each student has the power to effect positive change in the mission to end gender-based violence, students showed their support for the cause by wearing a white ribbon on their uniform and tying a symbolic white ribbon around the Murray Gates at the front of the College.

Year 1 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' Performance

The Year 1 class has been learning about position and direction in Mathematics this term, and they have recently applied their new learning to identify positional language in the book, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ retold by Michael Rosen. They performed an adaptation of the story during their assembly this morning for their families, students and staff, with an audience favourite moment being a special appearance by the ‘lion’, Marcos Vigare.

Year 4 AFL Max Excursion

Rostrevor’s Year 2 and Year 4 students had a great time at a Leadership and Wellbeing Excursion to AFL Max on Friday last week. The students enjoyed practical, movement-based activities with targeted learning to motivate them to build healthy habits, develop leadership skills and strengthen their overall wellbeing. It was a fun day enjoyed by all!

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

A heartfelt thank you to all the Rostrevor families who generously donated goods to the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal over the past few weeks. Your kindness has a truly meaningful impact on the lives of those in our Adelaide community who are struggling with the rising cost of living and might otherwise go without this Christmas. This year, the donations we made to Vinnies far exceed those of the past three years – a true testament to the difference our College community is able to make together. Thank you to Mrs Nadia Pinneri’s Year 5 class which helped to sort the donations and pack them into a Vinnies van for volunteer Mark this morning.

CO-CURRICULAR NEWS

Year 9/10 Knockout Cricket State Champions

The Year 9/10 Knockout Cricket team became state champions yesterday after defeating Roma Mitchell Secondary College in the final of the 35-over competition. Standout performers came from Sam Gray and Oscar Crafter with the ball, both taking three wickets in our bowling innings, dismissing Roma for 122. With the bat, Zack Faraonio and Tyler Hitch steered us home with 37 and 47* respectively, chasing the runs with 15 overs to spare. This was a fantastic effort from these students, with some of them winning both the Year 9/10 Cricket and Football State Knockout Championships in the same year!

Interhouse Dodgeball Competition

In recent weeks, the lunchtime Interhouse Dodgeball Competition has brought incredible energy, friendly rivalry and plenty of laughter to the College as students from across the Middle and Senior Years took to the court. The competition was shaped by the spirit of camaraderie and expertly facilitated by the 2026 Prefect group.

In the Senior Years, Barron House proved unstoppable, combining strategy, teamwork and impressive athleticism to secure the championship title over Murphy House. Their performance was both commanding and spirited, igniting pride among their peers and reinforcing the strong House identity they’ve built throughout the year. In the Middle Years, it was Egan House who rose to the challenge, edging out Barron House. Their enthusiasm and relentless determination carried them through each round, ultimately earning them a well-deserved victory.

Beyond the results, the true highlight of the event was the way the competition brought the College community together. The interhouse spirit was palpable, with students cheering, supporting and celebrating one another throughout the day. The atmosphere reminded us why these events are so central to student life; they strengthen relationships, build memories and give every young man the chance to step forward and contribute to something bigger than himself. Congratulations to Barron and Egan, and well done to all houses for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
