Presentation Night

Thank you to the many parents/caregivers and families who gathered at Futures Church on Monday night to support the College’s largest community event of the year. Presentation Night is a time for the Rostrevor community to gather and celebrate the outstanding academic and personal achievements of our students. The night highlights the importance Rostrevor places on learning and personal growth in our students, and also serves as a platform to showcase the talented musicians from across the school.

The evening ended with the Passing of the Colours - a symbolic and emotive tradition where Rostrevor's youngest students accept the College flag from the outgoing Prefects to present to next year's Prefect group. As they pass the flag, the Year 12 class passes on their good wishes and prayers to the students they leave behind - those who will carry on the traditions of the College.

World Teachers' Day

Happy World Teachers’ Day! Today is a day to acknowledge and thank the amazing teaching and ESO staff we have here at Rostrevor College, and also the teachers amongst the parents, caregivers and wider Rostrevor community members. We thank them for their dedication, their passion, their unwavering support and for making a difference every day! Our teachers and ESO staff were treated to a morning tea to mark the occasion this morning where they saw the video above.

Agriculture Cropping Excursion

On Tuesday the Stage 1 Agriculture students travelled up to Roseworthy for a two-part excursion to support their current Cropping and Agronomy topic. In the morning they visited a cropping trial site where they checked on their entries as part of the Schools Crop Competition, run by research company AgXtra. The students observed the progress and predicted yields of their team's crop, where they had earlier in the year researched and decided on a suitable wheat variety, sowing rate and fertiliser regime of their choice. This was followed by a trip to Australian Grain Technologies (AGT), Australia's largest plant breeding company, where students were shown how to cross breed wheat for improved traits, toured their impressive glasshouse facilities, as well as their wide range of product testing on site, such as beer and bread. Thanks to Rajesh Barua from AgXtra and Stuart Milde from AGT for their guidance on the day.

Olympics Unleashed

On Wednesday morning the Year 8 cohort had the privilege of hearing from Olympian and dual Commonwealth Games gold medallist Chris McHugh, who shared his journey to becoming an elite Beach Volleyball player representing Australia on the international stage for over a decade. Chris spoke about the importance of resilience in overcoming injuries and selection setbacks, as well as the experience of fulfilling his dream of competing for Australia at the Olympic Games. His message was both inspiring and motivating, encouraging our boys to strive for their personal best.

Briscola and Scopa Tournament

The Year 9, 10 and 11 students of Italian visited Mary MacKillop College yesterday to participate in the annual Briscola and Scopa Tournament. As part of the their Languages Week, students were treated to a Mexican lunch of tacos, loaded fries and nachos, supplied by Taco Cartel. The Briscola and Scopa competition followed with heated rounds of the Italian card games which date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. It was a fun afternoon of food, tradition and cultural activities.

Year 8 Geography Excursion

Year 8 Geography students from Mr Coop’s class took to the coast last week to survey the recent issues of algal blooms and erosion after storm events. The group surveyed the coast from Glenelg to Tennyson, using ArcGIS and Survey123 technology on their handheld devices. They are currently completing analysis of this data by creating maps and graphs using the updated version of MapViewer. The class was saddened to note the many forms of aquatic life that had washed up because of the algal bloom, particularly some of the keen recreational fishers. The data collected is now part of a longitudinal study dating back to 2021.

Road Awareness Program

Today, Years 10 and 11 students participated in the RAP (Road Awareness Program), being immersed in engaging and impactful sessions focused on safe driving, risk awareness and responsible decision-making on the road. The presentations challenged students to consider the real-life consequences of unsafe driving behaviours and illustrated the importance of making positive choices as young drivers and passengers. A special well done to Angus, who demonstrated great focus and responsibility while practising positive driving through the virtual reality simulator.

Looking ahead, a RAP family presentation will be held in early 2026, offering parents and caregivers valuable insights and guidance as their children begin the journey toward driving independence. This session will provide practical advice and support to help families navigate this important stage safely and confidently.
