Ash Wednesday
We gathered for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy as Catholic community in the Valley on Wednesday morning. Marked with the Ashes, we begin our Lenten journey with prayer, fasting and almsgiving in order to grow closer to God. Led by our Identity Leader Gianluca D’Apice, we look to support Project Compassion by sharing what we have with those who need it most.
Year 12 Formal
Held at the Hilton on Saturday night, the Year 12 Formal was a night that will stay with the Class of 2025 forever. The evening was filled with friendship, good food and fun times.
Year 10 Stepping Up Day
Stepping Up Day is a powerful and engaging experience for Year 10 students, providing them with an opportunity to connect with their male mentors while participating in a series of challenges designed to foster resilience, teamwork and personal growth.
The day features raft building, a high-intensity workout and problem-solving tasks, each carefully designed to strengthen bonds between students and mentors. Through these experiences, students were able to push beyond their comfort zones, gaining confidence in their abilities while learning the value of trust and collaboration.
Beyond the physical and mental challenges, Stepping Up Day also addressed key issues facing adolescent men today. Through guided discussions and shared experiences, students explored contemporary topics such as societal stereotypes, vulnerability, technology, anxiety and stress management. Fittingly, on the eve of International Women’s Day the experiences also focussed on the importance of building respectful relationships and standing in solidarity with the wonderful women in our lives. By engaging with their mentors – men who have walked similar paths before them – students gained valuable insights into navigating these challenges.

Year 10 Faith Formation Day
In conjunction with the Stepping Up Day, Year 10 students spent one day this week with the Religious Education team at the Semaphore Lifesaving Club exploring who they want to be. The cohort spent time getting to know each other as they explored how choosing ‘the good’ is an individual and social responsibility and reflected on how their role models encourage them to be the best versions of themselves.
International Women’s Day
On Monday morning, a group of Prefects and Year 12 Vice Captains attended the SA Women’s Week Breakfast at St Peter’s College where they had the opportunity to engage in important discussions around gender equality and driving change, before returning to school to present information about International Women’s Day to Middle and Senior Years students. The breakfast they attended featured a panel of inspiring guest speakers:
- Fiona Dorman – Chair of the Premier’s Council for Women, scientist, and business founder
- Jessica Adamson – Award-winning journalist and former Seven Network reporter
- Lucy Stephan OAM – Olympic gold medallist and two-time world champion in rowing
They were also fortunate to attend the International Women’s Day breakfast at the Adelaide Convention Centre to learn more about the initiative.
This week, students wore purple ribbons to show their understanding and support of the significance of International Women’s Day, which will be acknowledged globally on Saturday 8 March. Students were encouraged to think about what it means to accelerate action, and how they can help to pave the way for gender equality in today’s world.
Year 7 Maths Show
The Year 7 cohort had an exciting Math Activity Day filled with hands-on learning and fun on Monday. They started the day by watching an engaging math show, where they explored different ways to view and understand mathematics, uncovering its creative and practical sides. Later, they participated in a Mathematics Amazing Race, where they worked in teams to solve challenging math puzzles and complete tasks at various stations. It was a day full of teamwork, problem-solving, and discovering the fascinating world of math!
From the Agriculture Farm
Rostrevor’s Agriculture Farm is a hive of activity this term, with Middle and Senior Years students participating in hands-on learning while helping to maintain the facilities. The Year 9s have been rearing chicks, which are now about three weeks old, growing them to be sold as lay hens. The Year 10s have been constructing hydroponic systems, testing pH, flow rate, nutrients and system types to grow herbs and vegetables. The Year 11s have been undertaking winemaking, with the shiraz grapes from our vineyard having been crushed, fermented and is now ageing before it gets bottled later in the year. The Year 12s are undertaking research experiments ranging from stocking rates in beef cattle to fertiliser trials on crops.
OSHC Vacation Care
Vacation care delivered by the YMCA is available for Rostrevor families on-site over the upcoming school holidays. To view activity schedules, fees and to book, please view the flier.

On Tuesday the 25 February Rostrevor competed in the School Sport SA B Grade Championships at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre. Overall, it was a great effort by all the swimmers as they competed in every event throughout the day. Our Open team was able to lead from the front in and outside the pool, helping by supporting and cheering all the swimmers. Our best point scorers on the day were Ben Maher and Braydon Bohlin who finished in the top three for all races.
