Vinnies Winter Sleep Out & Walk a Mile
Congratulations to the Social Justice group and the Prefects for organising the Vinnies Winter Sleep out last night. 40 Middle and Senior Years students spent the night sleeping rough to better understand the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness. The boys learned about how Vinnies serve the local and global community through their different services, how homelessness can occur and what we can do to help to ensure the dignity of the person is respected. They spent their evening getting to know each other better playing table tennis and card games, and participated in a time of prayerful contemplation in the Valley before sleeping on cardboard in Mackey Mall.
The group then rose before sunrise to cook breakfast and make their way to the Victoria Park Racecourse to participate in the Hutt Street Centre ‘Walk a Mile in My Boots’ fundraiser. The event raises awareness and funds for the Hutt Street Centre, which is a place of connection and support for people experiencing homelessness.

Crazy Socks Day
Students from Reception to Year 12 donned their brightest and craziest socks this week for Crazy Socks Day. Thank you to all students who participated and helped to raise funds which will be distributed across Rostrevor's Catholic charities.
Kick Start for Kids Period Poverty Campaign
Thank you to all those students and their families who generously donated period products to the Kick Start for Kids Period Poverty campaign. The donations were collected yesterday by representative of the charity, Krissy, who expressed her sincere appreciation of Rostrevor as the only all boys school taking part in this important initiative.
These period products will be delivered to schools across the state to support girls and young women experiencing period poverty, helping to ensure there is one less hurdle for them in receiving their education.
EREA Youth Leaders Day
Year 6 Leadership Day was an inspiring and engaging experience, centred on the theme of service and leadership. Students explored how true leaders serve others with humility, kindness and responsibility, learning that leadership is about making a positive difference in their community. Through team-building activities, reflections and practical challenges, they developed the confidence to lead by example and support those around them.
Engineering Day Excursion
The Year 9 Mathematics Extension class travelled to UniSA Mawson Lakes to experience Engineering Day last week. It was an immersive full-day program where students explored electronics, software and civil engineering. They assembled an electronic circuit board, programmed an Arduino input/output board, and competed to create the best structure to span a gap.
Happy Retirement, Maridel
After nearly 15 years of dedicated service to Rostrevor College, we share with both joy and gratitude the upcoming retirement of Education Support Officer Maridel Tina.
Maridel has been an integral part our community, joining Rostrevor College in 2011. She quickly became a valued member of our Inclusive Education team, working alongside dedicated ESOs who were united in their commitment to ensuring that every student experienced joy in their learning and a genuine sense of belonging.
Maridel has been a shining light within the team, generously sharing her expertise, experience, and deep passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs. Her trademark humour, infectious energy and unwavering enthusiasm have not only motivated students but inspired them. As a result, students have worked harder and more effectively, demonstrating their appreciation for the care and effort Maridel has consistently invested in them. We wish her the best as she undertakes this new exciting chapter in her life!

CO-CURRICULAR NEWS
Intercol
Congratulations to all students who represented the red & black with pride at last week’s 102nd Rostrevor College v Sacred Heart College Intercol. Thank you also to the many students, families and community members who ventured across town to our host’s campus to support the players, adding to the electric atmosphere.
A special thanks goes to Rostrevor’s Co-Curricular staff who worked closely with their counterparts at Sacred Heart to ensure we were able to enjoy this fantastic annual event.
Continuing the 102-year-old legacy of the students who came before them is a privilege and an honour which students from both Colleges hold in high regard. The celebration of school spirit, respect for the legacy and upholding the friendly rivalry between our two schools is something passed down from generation to generation, continuing to bring our two school communities together as one, over a century on from the first Inercol match.
The First V Basketball team were able secure a 60 to 48 win on Saturday. While there have been agonising draws and one-pint losses in recent years, this is the first Intercol win for the team since 2010! The Sacred Heart First XVIII Football team proved too strong this year, besting our team 8.11 (59) to 19.15 (129). Photo galleries and results are available on the Intercol webpage.
Pedal Prix
Last Saturday marked Rostrevor College’s final race of the Pedal Prix season. This year, we competed in three events, including two 6-hour races (held in Adelaide and Tailem Bend) and Saturday’s 8-hour race back at Tailem Bend.
Due to the busy Intercol weekend, our team numbers were a little down, but the boys who raced gave an excellent effort to keep the bikes moving throughout the day. A couple of rollovers and a mechanical issue set us back slightly, but both teams finished mid-field overall.
This race also marked Year 12 student Robert Negoita’s final event after six years of dedication to the team. Robert has always turned up, given his best effort, and supported the younger riders. We’re grateful for everything he’s contributed and also extend a big thank you to his dad, George, who’s been a consistent help as a track marshal, rain, hail, or shine.
Year 9/10 Knockout Basketball
Congratulations to the Year 9/10 Knockout Basketball team who won both of their games at St Paul's College on Tuesday.
They came away with a strong win against their hosts in the first game, finishing on 66 to St Paul's 30. Their second game against Basketball powerhouse Trinity College saw the team rally for a hard-fought win with 56 points to 42.
We wish the team the best of luck as they now advance to the next round.
