  • Ashton also had some luck on his side, winning the Wheel Spin Prize

Boarders Representing Beyond the House

We’d like to acknowledge the impressive achievements of several boarders who represented the College interstate and overseas during the Term 1 holiday break and throughout Term 2.

  • Barnaby Wood and Josh Zeeman (Year 12) were part of the Rostrevor team that won the EREA Soccer Tournament in Brisbane – a fantastic accomplishment on the national stage (photo 1, both top left).
  • Matthew Tee (Year 10) participated in the College’s Manchester City UK Soccer Tour, visiting our affiliate team at their home ground. He took part in a range of training sessions and attended matches, gaining invaluable experience and insights into elite football environments (photo 2 & 3).
  • Archie Simpson (Year 11), Charlie Best (Year 11) and Tyler Hitch (Year 9) have been selected to represent South Australia in their respective Football state teams. A fantastic achievement that reflects their dedication and talent (photo 4 left & right, photo 5 right).
  • Jayden Brown has been chosen to play for the Under 18 Australian Expos Baseball Team which will tour California and Hawaii these school holidays. Baseball scouts will be present at these clinics and all games, giving a great opportunity for the players to progress their future careers (photo 6).

New Additions to the House

To add some excitement to downtime and support positive social engagement, we’ve invested in two PlayStation 5s for the Boarding House. These have been very well received and are helping foster fun and connection after a long day of study and training.

Driving Range Excursion

This term, a group of 15 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 enjoyed an afternoon at the local driving range, testing their golf swings and having a great time away from the Boarding House. For many, it was a first-time experience, and it was fantastic to see the boys encouraging each other, competing for distance and learning a new skill. The outing was a great mix of laughter, friendly competition and fresh air.

National Reconciliation Week Artwork

A special mention to Aboriginal Programs Prefect Kyran Cole-Manolis, whose impressive artwork was recently featured as Rostrevor’s National Reconciliation Week artwork, appearing in the Boarding House, in classrooms and on students’ lapel pins.

“I used dark, earthy colours to represent my Central Australian family―the Arrernte people of Alice Springs, and aquatic colours for my Kimberley side―the Yawuru people of Broome. The boomerang, shield and spear at the centre of the artwork are symbols that represent the strength and courage that Rostrevor instils in its students, turning boys into young men and setting us up for the future.

The large group of people gathered around the shield are the students who are here to learn and gain new strengths and skills with the guidance of their teachers and each other. Surrounding the centre are the men and women who care for us within our community. The dots pouring from them to us are their knowledge, strength and fondness for the students at Rostrevor. The waterways connect us back to the natural terrain of Kaurna country and the river that carved out the valley that is at the heart of our school.”

National Boarding Week

We celebrated National Boarding Week in style (a ‘touch of country’) with a schnitzel night and a make your own sundae bar – a small but tasty way to thank the boys for their ongoing contributions to life in boarding. They also participated in taking Year 6 students for a tour of Duggan House, a boarders vs day boys Volleyball match and cooked a BBQ to raise funds for Vinnies Winter Appeal.

Looking Ahead – Term 3

  • Christmas in July will take place Wednesday of Week 1 – boys are encouraged to bring their festive attire for this fun community celebration.
  • Intercol will be held in Week 2 – we look forward to seeing the boys support each other across a range of sports in this great tradition.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We wish all families a safe and restful holiday break and look forward to welcoming the boys back for another successful term on Sunday 20 July.
