First XVIII AFL Coach

As an independent contractor, the Football Coach supports and enhances the continued development of our program. Scope of Services to be provided include: 

  • Develop and manage a training program for the First XVIII Football Team which can be adapted and implemented across all levels of age and ability in the Middle and Senior Years.
  • Utilising in-depth understanding of game day strategies and tactics, as well as training programs, to provide high performance coaching to support training and game success.
  • Conduct pre-season training sessions, twice weekly training sessions, and attend matches on Saturdays during the Football Season.
  • In consultation with the Head of Co-curricular, Football Coordinator and Deputy Principal, support the delivery of a Senior Football Program which is positive, engaging, and encourages the development of players.
  • Establish a positive, safe, challenging, and engaging environment built on a ‘team first’ approach.
  • Demonstrate and role model respect for players, parents, staff, coaches, and umpires, and encourage respectful behaviours from First XVIII players.
  • In collaboration with the Football Coordinator, support team selection processes.
  • Maintain attendance data and game day reports, to be provided to the Football Coordinator.
  • Provide support to the wider Middle and Senior Years Football Program of Rostrevor College and create a welcoming and clear pathway to encourage future and developing players.
  • Coordinate equipment and resources required for training and games.
  • Communicate consistently with players regarding their development, selection, performance, and team contributions to support their development.
  • With the Football Coordinator, liaise with parents regarding concerns or inquiries as required.
  • Follow up on any injuries through contact with players and families and ensure necessary incident reporting processes are completed as required.
  • Foster strong relationships with staff, volunteers and contractors engaged in the Football Program.
  • Implementation of a player wellbeing program, development & strategy.
  • Involvement in the Year 10 Football program, with attendance at a minimum of 4 training sessions and 6 matches during the season.

Specific Requirements

This is an independent contractor arrangement, not an employment position. The contractor will be responsible for -

  • Their own ABN, taxes and insurance.
  • Their tools/equipment and manage their own work schedule in alignment with agreed-upon timelines and College events.
  • A valid Working with Children Check.
  • A valid First Aid Certificate.
  • A valid Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) certificate.
