Rostrevor’s Soccer Program is one of the most comprehensive school soccer programs in South Australia. In 2022, the College introduced a dedicated Specialist Soccer stream as part of its Physical Education Curriculum to be overseen by the newly-appointed Coordinator of Soccer, Daniel Mullen.
Adding to the program is First XI Head Coach, Terry Frangakis, who has been integral to the ideas and philosophies incorporated through our co-curricular programs. Mr Frangakis' vast experience, which extends to managing more than 30 coaches and 250 players at Club level, will allow him to mentor coaches from the Junior Years through to Year 12 to help them deliver high quality sessions that nurture, improve and develop the players under their care.
Rostrevor’s Specialist Soccer stream will be taught by academic staff member and former Adelaide United A-League player, Mr Daniel Mullen. Mr Mullen’s sporting accomplishments include 185 professional games, a distinguished 10-year career in the A-League, two FIFA Club World Cups and representing Australia in its U20, U23 and Socceroos sides. Further to his playing career, Mr Mullen also holds his AFC/FFA ‘A’ licence for coaching. His extensive knowledge and experience has helped design the new Specialist Soccer curriculum, focusing on a holistic approach to elite soccer.
Each week in winter, Rostrevor fields six Junior Years teams starting from Year 2, and an impressive 12 sides from our Middle and Senior Years, including our dominant Firxt XI team featuring five NPL players.
In addition to our successful College teams, our students represent various clubs at FSA level playing in the National Premier League, State League and State League 1. Subsequently, many strong professional and personal relationships exist between our College and Adelaide's soccer elite.
Mr Frangakis brings a highly professional and competitive edge to Rostrevor's Soccer Program having played at State level (Victoria) and as the current Technical Director at North Eastern MetroStars for U12 to U18 squads. He has a strong focus on identifying talent early and developing pathways for junior players and led Rostrevor's First XI to victory in the SAAS and State Championships last year.
