Prefect Investiture 2022

It was a privilege to induct our 2022 College leaders today and I wish our Prefects and their families a wonderful year ahead. To these young men, and all our students, I share three pieces of advice that I’ve learnt and continue to learn as a leader:

• Be your authentic self  
• Be a positive disruptor  
• Lead to serve others 

While it might be a bit of a buzz phrase, I encourage each of you to be an “authentic leader”. Being authentic doesn’t mean being perfect, nor does it mean getting everything right? Being authentic means being vulnerable sometimes and saying "hey, I need a bit of help". It’s ok for all of us as leaders to be perfectly imperfect and just embrace who we are. 

As leaders at Rostrevor, I invite you to be courageous, call things out and challenge the status quo for the greater good. Be a positive disruptor.

Leadership is not about a title, not about a badge, not about doing things to further promote yourself – true leadership is about the service you give to others and the difference that you make. Read more
